Hi all,

I've been using Windows Phone for a while but times change and I might be marching back to the Droid.

The one thing that looks like it is going to be a pain is contacts.

WP8 groups all a persons stuff under their contact under History. My previous (Okay it was 2.2) Android experience had sms, calls and email split across different apps for the same person.

What is the closest I can get to the this in the Android world?

While we are here anybody used the Outlook.com app for Android? Opinion appears evenly split between lovers and haters.

Didn't anybody tell you I was a hacker?

It depends on the version of Android you'll be running and whether it has been customised by the OEM.

I have a Google Play HTC One with 4.4.2, the email app included with that is far superior to the Outlook.com app and it can be sideloaded.

As for contacts, give Contacts+ as try.

Yeah, I might go back to my Gmail account. It's always a pain to switch. I like using SkyDrive so it's nice to use one ecosystem.

It will be the latest I can get my hands on. Mind you that Moto G looks pretty cool, especially for the price, only $100 more than a Nokia Lumia 520 but a lot more phone.

I know an ecosystem works best with it's own hardware.

Thanks for the recommendations I'll check them out.

I'm in the one ecosystem... google drive. I got 100gig with my chromebook, some more for the nexus', and I pay 5 bucks a month.. ALL THE GIGS!
Moto G is a bargain of a phone.

Yeah, at present I'm happy with Microsoft. Actually wouldn't mind a Surface 2, when they are back in stock here in NZ, yes I am well aware it will be running RT and what that means.

I can see the appeal of a Chromebook and there is no argument that the Moto G is a bargain on the spec. I did live in Google Drive for a while.

It's possible I'll move back to Android but there are things I really don't like, such as the way updates are handled.

Time will tell.

You can add a different account to the Android contacts, to sync your outlook.com contacts. After installing the Outlook app, then go to contacts in android and 'Add Account'.

I find the Outlook.com app to be fine just for basic email functionality. It doesn't have a calendar, but you can sync that with the main android calendar.

Speaking of Moto G, I just got one to play with, first thing I noticed was it doesn't come with a charger, just a cable, which is no big deal as I have a million chargers anyway, the second was that after setting my details into the phone it immediately updated to 4.4 Kit Kat which I wasnt expecting since its not the google edition.

Moto G is very close to google edition. I personally wouldn't be super happy with the Moto G as my main phone, I find it a bit ugly with a huge bezel. It's a great value phone, very functional, moderate screen size, just a little ugly IMHO.

Agreed, I bought it as a spare for work, but sold it already as a friend broke her phone.
