I'm planning to flash that rom but only if there is a reliable way of rooting it.

Have you read up at xda? That's generally the source of truth for this sort of stuff.

I'm still on 4.2.2. I didn't want to risk getting Knox and it works fine. I'm waiting for official 4.4.2, then I'll wait for someone to remove Knox, then I'll upgrade.

Read here, it links to rooting method and XDA threads.

Joker you are most of teh way to putting another rom on that will give you access why not just flash one, nothing to lose you are already rooted on custom recovery so counter is tripped regardless. Remember you can always restore your backup but why would you go back to 4.2.

app opps allows you to control exactly which permissions you allow your apps to access.

for example if you don't want your facebook app to read your contacts and sms you can deny it access

Mine has been rooted since day 1. I've since flagged the warranty and am running 4.4.2.
Simply locate the correct Philz kernel on XDA and odin flash it. Mine has been rooted for long enough that I no longer have any idea which version you'd need to root the Telecom 4.3 rom.

If you're planning on going straight to 4.4.2 then odin flash the stock rom (modems etc otherwise your wifi will not work), then the latest rooted kernel, then you can enter recovery and flash whatever rom you like.

I have been running 4.4.2 on my rooted phone for a while now on my SII. I have NEATROM AOSP on it with Team Win Kitkat kernel on it.

Goto XDA Developers website and have a read.
