Looking for a new phone with a good screen and enough battery life to last a day with good performance in general use. Which one do you guys recommend?

Out of those, the Z3 would have the best battery. The G3 would have the best screen. The M8 would have the best feel in hand. The GS5 would have the best camera.

Warehouse Stationery had the S5 for $599 when I was in there today. Must be clearing stock for when the S6 arrives :-/

That would have to be one of the best value phones currently available (not counting the OPO of course)

Yeah not really into the s5 because of touchwiz. The Z3, G3 and the moto x seem like the best.

Moto X does not have good battery - it is the worst of the lot.

I think the Z3 may fit your bill quite well mate. I dont know about G3- there are a few users on the forums who may be able to comment on the software side of it, I have heard its similar to touchwiz.

Never understand why touchwiz a deal breaker. Use another launcher like Apex or Nova?

Have you had a play with the various models in-store? Personally, I really didn't like the feel of the Z3 (or Z2 for that matter) in the hand, as it has quite sharp edges. I have elected to purchase a G3, which despite a larger screen has a smaller bezel and is more curved at the edges so fits better in the hand. While some may not feel this is an issue, to me given the size of these phones comfort is critical!

Check out some threads here as there's been quite a bit of feedback on the Z3 compact (seems to be a great option if you're comfortable with/want a smaller phone given it's got decent specs.

My understanding is that, compared to others like the S5, the G3 comes with a relatively clean Android experience, and that additional apps (ie bloatware) can be removed (plus should get an upgrade to 5 soon).

Dick Smith also has the S5 on special - $598 at the moment. Seems weird that the other 'flagship' models like the G3 and Z3 are more expensive to purchase as parallel imported models than the NZ-sourced S5!

Where are people buying the Moto X from?

I do like that the GS5 is only $600 at the moment but some may come down as we get closer to around christmas time. Or should I wait for the Z4 (rumoured for Jan release)

The moto x should have timely OS updates based on current Motorola activity so if having an up to date phone is important that is a big touch right there

$898 for a 16GB phone that can't be expanded is a bit of a rip-off. Only time I'd buy a phone with no SD card slot is if it had a decent amount of internal memory. At least with the One Plus One it's not too much more for the 64GB version.

What are your own impressions of using or at least handling these various phones (G3, Z3, One M8, Moto X...), or are you happy to buy on reviews/feedback/comments alone?
