So, I really like my physical keyboards, and although I don't completely hate touchscreen keyboards they aren't my preference.
It is a sad day as my trusty old Xperia X10 Mini is finally on its last legs (it's so bad now it sometimes doesn't even charge) so I am in need of a need of a new QWERTY keyboard phone.
However, a big problem is that apparently in this country there isn't a single retailer that carries decent QWERTY keyboard phones, despite the fact there are still a few recent models kicking around in other countries.
I have been looking into them for a while, and I am reasonably interested in the Motorola Droid 4 and Samsung Galaxy S Relay.
Unfortunately, it seems the only QWERTY phones you can buy in NZ are old or low quality models (e.g. trademe has things like the Samsung Sidekick or Xperia X10 like mine, may it rest in peace)
So here's a summary of my problems:
- Most importantly, I can't find nice QWERTY phones in NZ after a lot of googling so I might have to get one imported?
- Even if I got one imported, I don't know enough about cell phone networks etc. to know whether they would work in this country (particularly the two phones I listed)
- If they did work in this country, would I be restricted in my choice of network providers?
And for suggestions on phones here are my preferences:
- Physical QWERTY keyboard
- Capable of running android 4.0 or above (this is more to make sure it's not an ancient phone than anything)
- Don't really mind about anything else (even price), the most important aspect is the physical keyboard
If anyone could help point me in the right direction, make a suggestion or address any of my questions I would be very thankful.
