Yea they've built in Wordlens after taking over that company.

I am waiting for Chinese for an upcoming trip to China, would be useful to know what I'm eating..

I read about it over on PetaPixel, and was amazed it is a self-contained app — it doesn't need an internet connection to work its magic. I thought that bit was 'very' impressive.

You can get it on the iPhone. I am pretty sure that uses an internet connection as there is a delay for the real time translation.

No Klingon yet, but it does do Latin which is useful.

Yep - latest version can do OCR and translate on signs.
It still needs an internet connection for audio output though.

The Camera function of translate is the newly acquired 'word lens' which only does the languages indicated. You need to look at the written and spoken translate features to see the languages they cover.

Try using English to Chinese (simplified or traditional) - that works on the iPhone.

Chinese to english works fine on android.

I was using it last night to try to translate some chinese datasheets. Got the characters fine and made english that sort of makes sense if you already have an idea what the would be trying to mean. "Over pressure not to explode" and things like that

Tried English to Chinese with the camera option, no result. Chinese to English doesn't do anything either.
I'm on Translate 3.1.0.RC06.83908714 on Android
