Hiya, New to the forum. Does any one know when Lollipop will be available for Xperia Z1 here in NZ?? Just read that someone received the update for their Z2 or Z3 only on 22 Apr? So are we still a month or so away for the Z1? :(

Welcome to Geekzone

I updated my D5503 Z1 Compact to Lollipop 5.02 yesterday. I think it was released in the last week or so. It's from Parallel Imported though, so not an NZ release.

Thanks Stu. My Z ultra from Parallel Imported (not an NZ release) received the update immediately and it looks and works fine. Just a bit annoyed that it has been more than 10 days since the roll out began, but still nothing for NZ released Z1 :(

I'm not sure what happens with Sony releases here. I'm guessing the carriers test the release (maybe after adding their own tweaks first? I don't know, you'll have to ask them) and then give the nod to Sony to start pushing it out. Perhaps a carrier representative can confirm the process for Sony updates.

Hmm...True, but my handset is not tied to any carrier :( I had bought it from one of the Noel Leeming stores. But no harm in asking Vodafone...thanks.

I got notified of the update to my Z1 this morning.  I got it from the UK but I doubt it has a lot to do with where I got it.  When the 4.4.4. update came out I got it quite late, after some guys with Z1s purchased in NZ.  In my view it is just luck of the draw.

The only problem is I now have to wait for someone to come up with a simple root process.

Good luck hopefully you get it soon.

Thanks Giggs. Hope to get it soon. I think the updates are released region wise, so it is possible that Z1s in the UK are receiving the updates as well. I have asked the Q in Vodafone Community. Hope to get an answer soon. Will post as soon as I hear anything or get the update. Thanks guys for your help.

Just got an OTA notification of a firmware update to 14.5.A.0.270 which I will download tonight.

Changelog:

– Ensured the lock screen / notification bar doesn’t indicate “no service” when the device has coverage
– Added a Sony feature; bringing back the “close-all-button” in the activity menu, so you can easily close all apps at once
– Unblocked devices with server policies (such as Exchange Active Sync for e-mail), to enable the new Lollipop lock-screen notifications
– Ensured the LED light is lit across all sound modes – and no longer offset by “silent”
– Made the necessary fixes to enable the easy movement of content from internal memory to external microSD card (something we saw affecting a few devices)
– Improved messaging functionality in Ultra stamina mode – some conversations could not be opened before in Ultra stamina mode

Hopefully as they say it fixes the Exchange Active sync issue as not being able to read your lock screen notifications is bloody annoying.

Update was quick and painless but I had to delete and reload my Exchange Account to get the lockscreen notifications to work.

All good now though.

yea, finally got the update last weekend, but had to update using PC Companion. Has been working flawless and absolutely love it. There is so much you can do  with Lollipop! I wonder Vodafone received X.242 update while Spark pushed out X.270 update! :( I think it is again going to be matter of waiting until Vodafone receives X.270 :(
Anyways, thanks everyone :) Much appreciate your help...

Only issue I have is using the magnetic charger.  It'll charge to 80% or there abouts then constantly connect/disconnect. Using the usb cable works though. Same charger, cables fine, just something weird since the update.
