Sony Mobile Communications (“Sony Mobile”) today announced the launch of the Xperia M4 Aqua - a smartphone bringing Sony’s leadership in camera, design, battery and performance to an accessible price point.

“Xperia M4 Aqua represents our renewed mid-range focus – with no compromises,” said John Featherstone, Sony Mobile Communications Head of Business Development for APAC and Market Head for Oceania. “Offering the most popular standout features made famous by our Xperia Z Series; camera capability, up to two-day battery life1 and waterproofing2 – Xperia M4 Aqua brings a proposition and price, products in this section of the market simply cannot match.”

Jason Paris, General Manager for Spark Home, Mobile, and Business welcomed the launch of the M4 Aqua, saying it made a great addition to the stable of Sony devices exclusively available through Spark.

“We’re excited to have the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua in our range and on our network as an operator exclusive. It offers tremendous value with a top-of-the-line feature set at an unbeatable price. People will love the high definition front and back cameras, its ability to stand up to the rigours of everyday use, and the incredible battery life. It will be right at home on Spark’s fast 4G network, available in more places than ever before” said Paris.

Key highlights:

  • Achieve more – Sony’s first octa-core 64-bit smartphone featuring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor3 with integrated 4G LTE, running on pre-installed Android 5.0 Lollipop
  • Enjoy more - signature Sony OmniBalance design, ready for life - a waterproof smartphone with cap-less microUSB charging
  • Relax more - a powerful 2400 mAh battery offers up to two-day battery life so you’ll never have to worry about staying out and about
  • Capture more - just point and shoot, with a powerful 13MP camera, F2.0 aperture and Sony’s intelligent Superior Auto mode

The black Xperia M4 Aqua is now available for RRP $499 from Spark retail stores and online and the white handset will be available online at www.spark.co.nz soon. Next month both black and white colours will be available through Sony stores and online4.

To celebrate the launch of the Xperia M4 Aqua in New Zealand, the first 500 people to purchase the Xperia M4 Aqua handset from a Spark retail store or dealer will also receive a pair of Smartphone-capable Stereo Headphones valued at $129.95.
