My wife's phone has been sent back to Telegistics after the update two days ago. It installed fine initially but within hours had gone badly pear shaped and eventually wouldn't even boot into recovery or download mode. They will of course claim some form of mechanical or water damage as the phone is nearly two years old and has had a screen replacement already, but I do hold some hope that they might repair it. Highly coincidental timing if it's not software related...

I'm actually using a modified S6 port (most of the S6 apps and S6 system UI) on my S4 and it runs very nicely.

Interesting... with all major ota updates its wise to do a factory reset as the old os was built for dalvik and the new one built for art, will make the apps run alot smoother doing a reset.

Unfortunately while most of us a quite tech literate the average user is not and simply does what the phone says. The first I knew of her update was when she said it was taking ages to boot (initial boot post update). I would certainly expect her case to be a one-off, not the norm as carriers test the living crap out of these before releasing them.

The interesting part was that after her phone died I gave her mine to use (custom rom but freshly wiped) and once the Google backup started reinstalling apps it also started boot looping (not a good moment...). I then wiped it again and opted for a fresh install instead which went very smoothly. I have no idea what may have caused it as everything she has was installed via the Play Store but it certainly leads me to think there is something app/software related.

I've been thinking about doing this kind of thing. I have Wanamlite right now.

Does everything work - S health, all the standard apps? Battery life ok? The install instructions are a bit vague in places, like "Update modem to Lolipop" - can't remember how.

I have updated to lollipo 3 days ago. Just came as a system update. Battery life is terrible. I used to get all day without having to charge, but now bearly half day. Not sure how to check what's causing it.

Check under settings -> battery - it's in the 4th tab on the old build, not sure on the new.

Had similar issue with my S4 (i9506). Went into boot loop immediately after OTA upgrade. Managed to recover from that by loading firmware with Odin, but then went into boot loop again after trying to restore Google back-ups. Recovered from that and selected fresh install, but had issues with phone lagging. I then used Kies to do a phone initialisation and firmware recovery.

Phone is better now, but I still have issues with the following:
Browser lock-up/crash (3-4 times per week)
Push email is also not always receiving emails immediately.
Bluetooth not reliably connecting to car head unit.
I also don't like the way that the Do Not Disturb function now works.

Did call the service agent a few weeks ago to see if they would downgrade phone back to KK, but they said no. As always mixed reports online about downgrading.

If you can't laugh at yourself then you probably shouldn't laugh at others.

Battery life has been fine, though with multiple spares it's not something I really focus on (I'll be stuffed when I upgrade to the Note 5 shortly though). I just swap one out when it gets low...

As far as the apps go I've had no problems with any of them, though I don't use a lot of the stock Samsung ones anyway as the real thing I preferred was the S6 UI. I normally freeze most of the OEM apps with TB.
