Hi There!

How do I do this in Android, something simple. I don't care if it's visibly alerting, but I don't want my wife woken to my Clash of Clans game alerting me it's time for war!

STILL need to get Phone calls and Text Messages.

Cheers

I use an app called Tasker, which is a highly configurable do-anything toolkit for android. It takes a bit to get your head around, however there are many example scripts available online.

I use it to do exactly what you want: Between the hours of 21:30 to 06:30, and if connected to AC Power, mute all sounds. You can add exceptions, eg allow phone calls from your family, if you wish.

Cheers

Yes I use Tasker too and it works wonders however not sure if you require a rooted phone to take advantage of all the features.

Am also guilty with disabling notifications from Clash of Clans, Facebook and Simpsons Tapped Out on my partners phone and I am pretty sure she has not cottoned on yet... I am not sure if that is just pure evil or not since I don't do any of those things on my phone but by god I have had so many peaceful nights of sleep since.

I have used an app Profile Scheduler for nearly 3years now. It's totally reliable once you set it up. It changes my volumes / vibrations / screen brightness / turns off sync at night / set to silent for meetings (reads diary) . It is a bit like tasker but more like the old Nokia profiles we got so used to.

I put Silent Hours app on my mother's phone when I set it up recently. It's probably closer to what you want.

What phone do you have? My S6 has a setting under Settings->Sounds and Notifications->App Notifications that allows you to selectively turn notifications off for individual Apps. Tasker will work without root but needs it for some phone settings. It is not an easy App to get to grips with. If your phone doesn't have the ability in the settings menu I would suggest a stand alone app would be best.

I assume you're not running Lollipop? Because this functionality is now built into Android.

Using the paid version for probably as many years. Works well.

Under Lollipop check out Settings > Sound & Notifications > Interruptions > Downtime.

My HTC One with lollipop, if I change volume I get option to silence all apps or only allow certain interruptions.

Can also put in set times when the alerts are turned off.
