Has anyone had their Galaxy S6 battery replaced? One of our phones is in desperate need of a battery replacement and given how well sealed the unit is, I'm not willing to risk doing it myself. I'm not sure even where to source genuine OEM batteries from.

I've had Fonefix and the Samsung customer service plaza in Albany recommended to me, but would really appreciate hearing feedback on these.

Given Samsung customer service plaza are an authorized repairer for Samsung, one could pretty safely assume they will use OEM batteries.

How old is it? S6's have 2 year warranty.

Call 0800 Samsung and see what they say

Or take it back to Spark, Vodafone or who ever you got it from

The phone has had an enormous number of charge cycles, and IMO far more than could reasonably be expected for a consumer device, so it's perhaps a little unfair to claim warranty. We're happy to pay as long as it's several hundred dollars.

The only way to guarantee an original battery is to go to a Samsung service centre.

The replacement of a S6 battery is complex, removing the back glass can cause it to break or for the paint to peel off the glass then once you're in the frame needs to be removed this is stuck to the front screen with adhesive which sometimes causes the paint to peel off.

By going to a samsung service centre they are more likely to replace the device rather than just the battery so that may be a better option, if you decide to go down the path of a 3rd party repairer they will hopefully discuss the potential issues with you.
