Is there such a thing as a voice activated voice recorder? Not volume activated, activated by a voice command.

While I'm driving sometimes I want to note something down. I'd like to say "phone, record this" and get an audio clip recorded. Or transcribed, but that's probably more difficult.

google assistant/google now can do this for you

will record the note into google keep (may work with other note apps) as audio and also transcribes it for you then saves it. ive used it in google maps and Waze while driving

"OK Google, Take a note".

Easy as that.

It'll then ask what notes app. I use Keep.

I wondered if it would, but a Google didn't turn anything up. How do you activate it?

Does it use a lot of battery, listening all the time?

Yep I have the P9. Is it Google Now that does the "ok google"? I turned that off because I found parts of it annoying. Looks like Google Assistant is an extention of that, so I'll try to work out how to turn it on. Thanks :)

Can't remember, it's been a couple of years. Something to do with cards, I think.

I ran the "Google" app on my phone. I have Nova as my launcher. How do I start Google actually listening?

Google Assistant doesn't seem to be available to download, I think it's somehow integrated.

Ah yeah, I did, looks like you have to mess about to get it working. I guess I'll just wait until Google rolls it out properly.

Google Now voice commands don't seem to work when the screen is off. Having to touch the phone defeats the purpose somewhat.

there is a setting that you can change to allow you to do this. but the downside to this is it allows you to do ANY voice command when it it off.
