All of a sudden my Samsung Galaxy S6 started wishing me "Good Night" and "Good Morning" on an additional lockscreen when I connected or disconnected my charger. The screen also had weather forecast details on it and needed to be swiped away to continue.
Research led me to it being a 'feature' included in the latest update of the Peel Smart Remote App. It is automatically activated by the update with no warning. I feared something had hijacked my phone, and in effect it had. Luckily there is a menu in the top right corner to 'mute' this feature.
Since it is part of the Samsung bloatware that came with the phone it can't be uninstalled, but I have disabled it. Dick move by the App developers.

That's so bad.

I wonder if Samsung retain any say over how bundled software is modified, or is it AMFYOYO?

I feel they must do, because stuff like this damages the user experience for the phone, and hence the reputation of the brand.

If an app is Disabled, does it stay disabled, or will it restart if the phone is rebooted?

I just had to help someone this week with a similar thing. A bundled keyboard app on a (don't know brand) phone was displaying ads for store apps on the lock screen. Had to be swiped before you could unlock.
This was apparently enabled in an update too.

I had Peel Remote bugging me with Superbowl games, etc.

Disabled it.
