Hello there.

Recently Bought LG G6 (LG-H870DS)

The reason was Ingress and Galaxy S5 Became slow and 2Gb Ram not enough now.

Done lots of research and was looking specificly for waterproof phone like my S5 (Really did like that Phone done give a sh1t about NZ weather :) )

Anyway Phone is fast enough for me and etc. But one huge problem.

Mobile data is unstable and not comfortable to use at all.  I use same Sim card (Spark 4G) as on previous phone.

1) While on Galaxy S5 i never had a issue with data connection when someone call me for example i talk on Skype and someone call me and Skype call don't interrupt just goes on hold/pause and data smoothly change to 3G without actual disconnection of data stream.

on G6 it goes complite disconnect and takes about a minute to connect back. Really sad.

2) 4G Random Drop Outs and full Data loss.  (Never happen on S5 at the same places)  (Even with full signal strength)

3) 3G Random Drop Outs and full Data loss.  (Never happen on S5 at the same places)  (Even with full signal strength)

4) Loosing data when driving on motorways (WTF!) Never happen on Galaxy S5

Anyway LG g6 seems to be a solid phone with high quality components and build. I just wonder what if something wrong with actual settings or sim card or something else?

what i have tried:

1) Hard reset.

2) Manually set the settings for data and APN etc.

3) Update the Software.

4) No dodgy applications running in Memory only: Skype, Ingress, Maps, Hangouts.

5) Speedtest shows generally slower speeds compare to S5  :(.

Really love the phone but dont know how to solve the data issue, and dont know is it a fault on the phone and im a fault...

Just need help to determine what else to try.

Thank you!

Ingress - I see why you want your data to be stable.

It sounds like you may have a faulty phone here.

*waves at fellow Ingresser* :)

The H870DS shouldn't have any issues connecting to Spark networks.

What's your preferred network type set to under Settings ? Mine is set to GSM/WCDMA/LTE. Also worth checking your network band by dialling *#*#4636#*#* - Phone Information - Menu - Select radio band (should be set to automatic).

If it all checks out then it could be that you received a dud, and you might need to speak to your seller and get a replacement device.

I'd try a new SIM card first of all, see if that helps.

Otherwise I agree with other posters here, faulty phone.

My V20 does the same thing. I have no idea why and I have never had another brand do it.

Did a research. And Seems to be a problem with LG phones.

Well another qestion?  If it is "normal" behaviour of LG phones (G6 and V20 almost the same hardware) and not a fault, then i cannot return it by warrnty. But this is not comfortable state of use.

I have bought Phone from BPTech (Nice seller btw) and no idea what to do, now i really want to go for Samsung S8+. LG nice phone, but Data connection is sad. :(

My LG G3 developed similar problems after a year, as well as frequent spontaneous rebooting ("SIM card removed"). I'd never buy another LG phone.
