I understand that the S-pen does not work on an S8, only on the Note or a tablet.

Any recommendations for a good stylus suitable for handwriting on an S8?  A myriad of options on Amazon, eBay etc but quality seems very variable

Preferably something capable of relatively small characters, as per pen on paper. Possible?

Would prefer not to have to go to a Note.  S8 is around upper limit for size that I would find practical.  Besides S8 is still 'new' so would be hard to justify swapping it out for a Note.

I bought a high quality one with capped ballpoint pen on other end from a Stationary store. There isn't going to be much difference to what you see on screen with any old cheap capacitive stylus tho. If you want spen quality, you need to buy the note.

everything else is capacitive not active. There is literally no alternative that wouldn't feel like you aren't using a jumbo crayon. Your best option would be to use the Samsung or google writing recognition setting in the keyboard and your finger.

OK, I have ordered two different stylus pens on a suck and see basis!  Both supposedly "Active Capacitance" Stylus Pens

  1. Precision Active Capacitive Stylus, which cost ~$19 NZ (incl currency conversion cost).  Not so confident about this one. Pen tip 2.3 mm.
  2. MoKo Universal 1.5mm Capacitive Stylus.  Pen tip 1.5 mm.  The price for this varies wildly on eBay (up to NZ$123 + $62 pp!).  Initially could not find it at a reasonable price, hence ordered the first pen.  Later found the Moko at ~$30 NZ so have ordered it also.

Will report back once have had a play with both.  But will be up to 6 weeks before they get here.
