Very curious to find out whether to still keep waiting for throw money down the drain and buy something else? It would suck to get rid of v30 as it is not a bad phone.

Anyone here has news on when NZ V30 will get Oreo update? I couldn't find much info on it, I searched Google as well as Geekzone search.

You can manually download and update it if you're sick of waiting.

I did mine around a month ago and it all went smoothly.

Would sideloading void the warranty? I bought mine locally here in NZ.

Flashing the update manually that way, would it factory wipe everything? I tried to look in this thread if I need to factory wipe but no one mentioned it, so assuming it wont factory wipe but would be safe to double check?

Could you also please advise what were the main feature you received as part of Oreo? I was mainly after the performance improvements, LDAC for bluetooth and the new AI Camera. Did you get these or are they separate to the Oreo update? Sorry about lots of questions!

I wouldn't have thought it would void the warranty, as it's the official LG firmware and you could always do a factory reset if something went wrong.

I bought mine locally from PB Tech.

I did a backup first with LG Bridge, then downloaded the update from https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/development/h930ds-lg-v30-hong-kong-hh93020ds-t3782935 and followed the instructions at https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/how-to/guide-how-to-upgrade-downgrade-restore-t3738917.

Choosing the "Upgrade" option should keep all your data.

After it had finished I restored the backup to get it looking the same as before.

I think the main differences are the LDAC for bluetooth and the AI Camera. The LDAC was the main reason I wanted the update.

Some people on Reddit have complained about the battery life after the update, but I haven't had this problem.

Hi beddy thanks for that.

My other concern was if I flash the HongKong version, would it affect the network connectivity as I would assume that version in your link the modem/radio/baseband wouldnt that be made for HongKong and not us? Its further down that thread you can see people talking about they losing 4G etc, hence why just a bit cautious.

Thoughts?

After doing a quick Google search it looks like Hong Kong uses LTE frequencies 1800, 2300, and 2600.

The NZ carriers use 700 and 1800, and Vodafone also uses 2600.
