voda at least have this at $200 locked .... but i'm shocked this thing is so cheap.

screen rez is quite low, and the ram is only 2GB .. but 6'2 inch screen, OneUi, and seems snappy from my quick play on it at voda and spark stores.

build is solid, although clearly plastic, looks pretty decent in red imo.

Not sure how it compares to other devices at the price but the CPU is a pretty decent one.  id sacrifice a glass back or metal construction for a higher performing cpu if it came down to it.

Sorry for the late reply!

I buy my Chinese Phones direct from China (as long as a 3 week wait doesn't bother you!)

both Oppo and Xiaomi sell direct on Aliexpress.com

Looks like a great phone but FDD-LTE B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/20. TD-LTE B38/40

No band LTE 28 which is a must outside the metro areas.

I live rurally and don't have any issues with LTE range. Last week I was running it in the Queensland Outback on Telstras network just fine.

+1 for that particular Xiaomi. They are extra zesty as they run Android One, not MIUI. TBH the band 28 thing is probably not going to bother you unless you are massive data consumer. You still have the same level of reception in rural areas, just not 4G. I've helped get several of these phones for friends/family and they are outstanding value for money.

I suspect there will be b28 on the version that NZ carriers sell here.

Expecting to post some good news in the G7 thread next week.

Samsung's new A-series is so good that it'll be mostly down to software preferences I reckon.

I've got a Xiaomi Note 5 and I'm super, super happy with it. My wife has a Xiaomi Mi 5, and previously I had a Xiaomi Note 4 which I had for 2 years and was able to sell for about $80 on TradeMe.

The Note 5 costed about $230 on Aliexpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Original-Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-5-4GB-RAM-64GB-ROM-Mobile-Phone-Snapdragon-636-Octa-Core-5/32855248320.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4d7pcXYJ

I've installed Pixel OS myself as I'm not a big fan of MIUI. But MIUI is pretty decent.

bought a couple of these last month. Absolutely awesome phones for the price. Nothing even comes close in this price bracket locally. Paid $209 per unit off Ali.

Personally the little extra you will pay for a Xiaomi android one phone is completelyworth it. Stock Android with updates for another two years. Android one runs amazingly well on lower spec'd phones. Plus installing the gcam mod will greatly improve the camera.
