So you might have seen my thread where I was asking for a s8 plus stock rom. I was looking for one because I was trying to get the Disney+ app to work on my phone but it just wouldn't. it kept giving me the loading icon whenever I went to stream something.

Netflix wouldn't work either. I came to the conclusion that it was probably my because my phone was rooted and wanted to undo the root and put a stock rom back on my phone in hopes both apps would work again.

I refreshed my phone with a stock rom of android 9 from Vodafone from sfirmware but now Google play store is saying my s8 plus is incompatible with the Netflix and Disney+ apps and I have no idea what to try next. Any ideas would be helpful otherwise I'm thinking it might time for a new phone anyway as I'm hearing the s8 plus wont get android 10.

I you really want to install the apps but the Play Store isn't giving you any love, you can always sideload them.

For the Netflix app, my Pixel phone is showing version 7.37.0 is the latest. You can download a copy from an APK mirror site like apkpure and install it directly.

For Disney+, it looks like 1.1.5 is the latest. Again, you can download a copy from an APK mirror site like apkpure and install it.

I'm not sure why either of them are showing incompatibilities for your phone. It appears that they both support Android 5.0+, which you definitely have.

Please be a little bit careful when choosing an APK download site. Some of them don't have the latest versions of the apps. Some of them have hacked copies of apps that contain malware. I haven't used apkpure for much myself, but I know it has a good reputation and the latest copies of the APKs.

Rooting Samsung devices permanently trips the Knox flag. Netflix and Disney+ are absent from the Play Store because your device is not passing Google's SafetyNet check. Open the Play Store side menu, hit settings, and scroll to the bottom - "device is not certified" will display. This means no Google Pay and no DRM-heavy apps, i.e. Netflix and Disney+.

Both of these apps are now distributed as split APKs, which are a pain both to find for download and to install. They are not as easy to extract from another device either. The older single APK version of Netflix found on APKMirror will work, albeit not in HD or HDR, and you can't download for offline viewing. Disney+, if you can get the split APK installed, will let you browse and cast but won't let you watch anything on the phone itself.

Your best bet at this point - assuming you have already factory reset after reinstalling the stock ROM - is to root again and use a tool like Magisk Hide to try and fool SafetyNet.
