Mother in law has a Lenovo tablet which has a strange issue,
When she’s on White Pages, it doesn’t show number.
When she presses the box, it just turns grey.
I’ve tried in both Chrome and Firefox.
Also allowed pop ups.
Finally, it’s running the latest software.

I tested this with Chrome and Opera on my phone running Android. When I tap "Show number" it showed me a "Open with" dialog with the apps Phone and Skype as options.

I tapped "More info" and I get another page but again "Show number" actually tries to open a dialing app.

Perhaps the page is trying to do the same on the tablet but seeing it does not have a way to dial, nothing happens? If that's the case, blame on the Whitepages...

Also, unrelated but on the desktop it shows a landline phone number we have disconnected at least five years ago...

Thanks.
Yes, asks me if I want to dial as well, if I click from it on my phone.
I’ve sent an email to their support desk.

Got the following response. Not really that much of assistance.
I might try to install Skype and see if it then shows a number.

And that's how you know they don't care.

I tried whitepages on my laptop - working fine.

I tried whitepages on my Samsung Tab S4 - it wants to know if I want to open with phone or with skype, if I try to open with phone I can see the number on the phone app.  I'm not sure how to get it to just display the number.  I got the same results with built in browser and with Chrome.

It probably is a setting somewhere, pity the people at Spark don't seem to support Android devices, especially considering how popular they are.  There must be more Android phones & tablets than Apple devices in NZ, by a huge margin.

Spark has nothing to do with White Pages.

Well, whoever they sold it off to - clearly they don't care about the majority of web connected devices in NZ being able to use this function.

Yellow Pages Group have owned it since 2007.

I've tested this on multiple Android devices incl phones, tablets and even Android TV since this thread first started and it's working fine for me.

On devices that support calling functionality (ie a phone) or have Skype installed it defaults to a tel: URI to make a call which is obviously the functionality they want as I'd assume 99% of people who search for a number want to call it. If they didn't do this you'd no doubt have people complaining that functionality didn't exist as they try and remember a number to then copy to their dialer.

On non phone devices and those without Skype installed that I've tested it gives a popup with the number in the browser.

Something is obviously broken with the code they're using or how some specific devices identify. It certainly is not an issue affecting all Android devices.
