My one plus 5 is dying slowly. Should I wait for something else (e.g Xiaomi) or just get a samsung s21 Ultra?

The S21 Ultra is probably the most capable Android phone you can buy currently, if you are ok with the thicker skin coming from OnePlus (IMO it's more feature laden and polished than most flavors of Android currently) and are prepared to pay for it (which there always seems to be sizeable discount available through most MSPs if you get it on a plan).

Otherwise you could take a look at the OnePlus 9 Pro if you want to keep it in the family. The camera looks a bit underwhelming compared to the S21U, but the Snapdragon 888 SoC combined with the same LTPO QHD+ OLED screen, much faster wired charging could outweigh that. It is worth noting that you will need that faster charging since it seems to suck power down much faster than the S21U.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra looks interesting, and more-or-less as good as the S21U but doesn't seem to be available locally and seems to be priced above the S21U in other markets. It's the first Xiaomi phone that has made me consider breaking my Samsung streak, but ultimately I think I will be waiting to see what the camera setup S22 looks like, as that Samsung GN2 sensor looks like a winner over the HM3. That rear screen though...
