Good news indeed :) any idea if the LG phone will be updated to 2.1? Anyone?

I know the X10s have the update planned for September, played round with one the other day, such a beautiful design, wasted on 1.6 though for now :(

Great move on the Desire also!!!

The big question in my mind is will VF offer some decent On Account plans (ala iPhone) with handset discounts? Or will 'other' smartphones still be treated as an adjunct? Might just be enough to make me go on account.

Additionally;

Access to Android Market through your VF account maybe?

If VF is getting the Desire does that mean HTC are just about to release the next generation?

Also can we expect the price of parallel imported Desires to drop?

I asked Vodafone about this and the response was "The version is controlled by the handset maker and/or Google – although we’ll be urging them along the upgrade path as quickly as possible."

Great news, and I congratulate Vodafone on securing these handsets. Android is a great OS for the smartphone and is woefully under-represented in the NZ market. If the LG phone can be updated to 2.1, then this is a great pricepoint for Android for the masses.

Indeed, hope it's not a price mistake though, as Australia is selling it at 500 or so ... this is definitely cheap!

Iphone 4 has raised the bar though.

I'd considered the HTC, but these iphone 4 reviews are pretty damn good. Choices choices, isn't competition great?

Good on vodafone.

The biggest issue now, is probably not the handsets themselves, but the local operators and their miserly data plans.

That little LG looks a nice entry level machine.

Agreed as far as specs are concerned....with the possible exception of the Sense UI, which excites my anti-bloat gland.

But for access to the newest, latest, greatest code from Google....N1 is top of the heap (so far).

I've been running the (amazingly stable) pre-release Froyo FRF50 build and Flash 10.1 beta 1 (2 and 3) for a month.

That's a big plus for the Nexus One - to me. Others may not care.....and that just fine. Then Desire is the better phone for people with Sense. ;-)

Have you seen the FRF50 to FRF83 update thats out in the wild?  I have updated to FRF72 so cannot flash to FRF83, would be interested to know what is different on FRF83.  Requires stock recovery in its current incarnation, I'm sure it will be repacked at some point on xda.

This is good news, I wonder what the cost price will be on these beauties ;)

What is the difference between the A8181 and the A8183 revisions of this phone?
