Quick question,

How do I open up network ports (any will do) on Android to accept incoming connections over 3g? I know linux has restrictions in place to limit unauthorised access.

I want to access my nexus one phone (running CM6) via a web server over a 3g connection. Every time I try and connect to port 6969, I can see my (H) data connection link turning on and off, but no connection...

I know this is probably irrelevant if you're seeing data come in on the HSDPA symbol, but check your APN settings.
EG for XT you can't use the TelecomContent APN to do something like this, you need to use TelecomDirect.
Vodafone probably have something similar.

Not sure on the opening ports though sorry, perhaps search on xda-developers?

Apn is sweet, using direct.vodafone.net.nz.

You can try the "3gtest" app to see which ports are open from the Vodafone end. I've accessed a "SwiFTP" ftp server on my phone from the Net via a proxy operated on a donations basis by the app maker.

Vodafone isn't really set up to allow servers on phones, but there are some ports open you may be able to make use of.....like the FTP example above.
