There is a huge GS thread here on GZ but I don't recall seeing anyone say they actually installed one these leaked FroYo versions on their phone.

I am very keen to get 2.2 on my GS but I don't really want to instal a beta, particularly as it appears that some functions are disabled by the beta. At this stage I am quite happy to wait for the final release which I understand will be delivered via Samsung Kies (?) in late Sept. Keen to see what others think.

Yes I tend to agree with you, I have not even tried one of the more recent 2.1 firmwares. I have rooted the phone. I may be tempted to get a Froyo beta once they get a bit closer to the final version, but really, if its available in September I can probably wait. The only thing that I really want from Froyo, apart from general performance improvements, is Flash support.

I installed JP2 but didn't bother with JP3. I gave up and went back to JM2 (thanks to Clockworkmod) after something in the Bluetooth stack started crashing. My impressions were:

Yes I tried it and it seems to work OK. Scrolling in lists is a bit odd, it does a kind of hiccup when you stop scrolling. Flash works but you have to download and install it separately. TV3 news video works, TVNZ news video crashes the browser. Bluetooth voice dialling works but is a bit quirky. GPS seems about the same. LauncherPro works. Overall, if it's really an alpha it's not bad. If it's a beta I'm a bit concerned. :)
