I don't own a PS3, but this looked like it might be worth highlighting for those who do. 

Belgian developer, "AmonRA", is the author of what is arguably the best recovery for Android phones. Here, he appears to have added a function that makes it easy and convenient to jailbreak your PS3.

Have a look at this post today on AndroidSpin if you're into this. One more use for your (compatible) android phone.

I tried it and it works fine. I found that running the games from the HDD were not signficantly faster than running from the BluRay, which surprised me given how dog-slow BluRay is. Unfortunately, it wasn't worth sacrificing the ability to play Red Faction with some of my mates in Oz, so I had to upgrade the firmware to 3.42 so I can't try the trick any more.

He's released a newer recovery quite recently which has the PSFreedom _and_ retains the usual ADB/USB support too. If you have a PS3 and the 3.41 firmware, then it's worth having a play just for amusement if nothing else.
