Hey Guys

he sony support forum says they have already started rolling out the android 2.1 update for the sony xperia. However my phone still finds no new updates.

checked current version and definitely still 1.6.

Has anyone with this phone been able to sucessfully update to 2.1 yet?

The key being "rolling out" they release them gradually over at least a month. They started with nordic countries on Sunday and some of europe this week. Nz has no firm release date but should be some time this month hopefully.
There is a way to trick your phone into thinking it is nordic, check xda forums for details.

I bought she who must be obeyed the X10 HD Mini Pro and for the last 2 weeks it has said their is a software update available but none appears so she is still stuck on 1.6. I wonder if after this update arrives if Sony Ericsson will update them past 2.1. It would be awesome if they did.

That software update will be a pre 2.1 update (there are at least 2 of those) and you have to connect to the pc and use the SE software to update to them.

There are plans for further updates but meerly adding features not for 2.2 (yet) although with the updates coming out linked for all the phones ( x10 and mini and mini pro) there is hope as the x10 must get futher updates as their flagship phone otherwise it just wont compete.

All seems to be good, restore from backup got most things back. Had to import contacts through the phonebook.
Normally here at home I connect at G, sometimes 3G(in a deadspot here) but after the upgrade I'm seeing H as well. What does the H stand for?

from xda forum:

"G" = GPRS = way slow (think of WAP browsing)
"E" = EDGE = up to 384 Kbps
"3G" = aprox. 1 Mbps
"H" = HSPA = 1.5 Mbps, 3.6 Mbps, 7.2 Mbps
"H+" = HSPA+ = 14.4 Mbps etc

apparently the old 1.6 couldn't tell the difference between 3g and H

Makes sense. Was on UK generic, but it hasn't updated yet, so flashed to global generic
