OK, so I'm going on a cruise over New Years (8 days to go, so excited!) and I want to take my HTC Desire with me but to use only as a camera/camcorder.

Is it really as simple as:
*  Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile network [untick]??

I don't want to incur any roaming data costs, because they're ridiculous!!

Even better option than that. Go:
Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks

Then disable data roaming (its disabled by default). Got back from Korea and Japan with my Desire & that setting on and it worked great.

It's almost hard to believe it's that simple!

On the Desire, if you press and hold the power button you should see "Mobile network" at the bottom. If it says "Mobile network is ON", tap it to change this to OFF. Same as doing it the long way but a little quicker. Handy when you're out and about and just want to quickly turn data on/off for whatever reason.
