Hey peeps,
happy new year etc.. Smile

Updated to latest official 2.2 via Kies and now looking for a way to gain root access.
Would like to play with the stock rom for a while before upgrading to something else.

So far reading on XDA seem to recommend Chainfires method which is all fine but cant find seem to find suitable jp3 rom.
I take it just have to flash the pda rom via odin?

Chrs

i recommend trying z4root from the market. works fine on most android handsets. i used it on my Galaxy S (AT&T Captivate) .

I strongly recommend asking all Galaxy S related questions in this dedicated thread, This will ensure the highest visibility from other Galaxy S users:

Lots of Galaxy S users watching this thread. Many of us have used the advise from other users in here, re rooting, custom roms, recommended apps etc .

- Telstra HTC Touch Pro2 - Energy ROM WM6.5.5 20 Oct/Cyanogen Mod Froyo 2.2 - R.I.P
- AT&T Galaxy S Captivate 16GB on XT (now with brother)
- Samsung Galaxy S2 on XT- Runs ICS 4.0.3 Resurrection Remix 9.2

Tried z4root as my fist option but it hangs and force closes.
Chrs will post in the thread in future but 230 odd pages does not make for easy reading or finding answers that easy.
