Has anyone tried upgrading their Apad (Haipad M701R) to 2.3? I was able to upgrade but cannot connect using my Vodafone 3G USB modem. I was able to do so with 2.1. It could be that the driver or config files are missing. Have played with APN configs, but no success. Have also converted the USM modem to "modem only" mode, i.e. no CD, no SD drive, still unable to connect, just flashing lights.

Hi, I just tried to do the HaiPad 2.3 Upgrade (4G version) on my PBTech APad ii M701-R 4G. Now I have a bricked unit.

Can you tell me what model or where you got your HaiPad?

It was from PB Tech, it was the 2G version not the 4G version, I am not sure though I'll have to check. I am told the 4G version has the model number HY appended to it.

Yup, I found out after much testing it was the 2G version (with 4G of flash).

So I had to use the 2G ROM.

All good now, Android 2.3 works well. :)

My only gripe is there is something missing from the ID of the device now. Some marketplace apps that I used to have are no longer showing. When I try to "push" them from the Marketplace via a PC, it tells me the device is either "not supported" or "this application is not available in your country"

I had these apps installed and working on the previous 2.1 ROM (Kindle app, Nook app and a VPN app).

:(

Did you update the id with Mac?
Have you tried connecting with a USB 3G modem?

Problem solved.

2G ROM for 2.3.1 is already rooted, just installed Market Enabler from the marketplace and changed my "virtual" SIM to T-Mobile (USA).

Quite funny becuase this device is not a phone, yet because the Android 2.x is designed for mobile devices, the phone component is still core to the OS.

I can see why Android 3 and a future merged release should become much better for tablet devices

Glad to hear that. Are you connecting using WiFi only or can connect using 3G
