Hi ya all!

I am using a samsung galaxy s2 at my work. I logon to the work Wifi which has a login name and a password. If i used a laptop/mac/iphone with the same wifi setup i gain access to the work INTRANET.

however although i can browse the internet with my SGS2 on the work wifi, i am unable to connect to their intranet/secure sites.

every browser i download gives me:

You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied because your Web browser is sending a WWW-Authenticate header field that the Web server is not configured to accept.
*************************

Can anyone explain in plain english?

Your phone can't login to the domain and doesn't / won't support domain admin / security policy. You're effectively a visitor.

If I need full access, I RDP into PC on the network and then login on the PC. If external, I establish a VPN connection, then RDP into a PC.

What you describe is how it is where I work, too. If you can't login to the domain, you can't participate in the domain fully and will only be able to access whatever resources 'foreign' devices are allowed to use.

On Android, I use "RDP Remote"....but there are several such apps. They all tend to be paid apps because (I suspect) you're using proprietary Microsoft technology. If you use VNC (on PC and phone)...then you may find there are free apps. I was in a hurry, so i just bought the app that looked best to and which had mainly good ratings and comments.

A tablet would be better than a phone. RDP on the phone is a desperate act.... :-)

If the iPhone can do it, so can your SGS2, it'll just be a case of working out how. You may need to install the secure certificates onto the phone.

You could also just try setting the browser to "Desktop" mode. I'd suggest using the DolphinHD browser instead of the default one.

i've tried all other browsers inc dolphin. can i install the PC certificate onto android and if so, how? (i have the certificate file)

Here's the routine;

Once you've got the .pfx file, change the file extension to .p12, copy it to the root of the SD card on the phone, then go Settings --> Location & Security --> Install from USB. It'll insist on a passwhilst whilst saving, and another one for storing it on the phone.

I just tried it on mine and it worked ok, not that the certificate I installed is of any use :)

settings > Location and security >install from SD card. has option to install encrypted certificates. Hopefully file is correct format to be recognized.

hmm on trying to install the cert into android it asks for a password. as far as i know there is no password on the original cert. but apparently during the export process a password is created. but i am not told what it is???
