Using my Nexus One on Vodafone, I have always had difficulties receiving mms. Sometimes they come through ok other times they just refuse.
Today i received two from the same person at the same time,one picture downloaded straight away,the other just wont download.
When checking the apn settings for the millionth time, I noticed that the sms one had a white circle with a green dot to the right of it while the mms one had nothing.
Should they both have those green dots showing,is this why I have troubles receiving mms?

That's normal. The dot lets you specify the primary data APN. The MMS one only gets used for MMS, nothing else.

I found my N1 to be pretty picky about MMS's. Are you using the stock firmware?

Yes its standard.

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

If it downloaded one PXT (MMS) it can't be the settings on the handset then!

I can agree with that,any suggestions as to what ic causing it then?

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

I was going to ask similar myself.

I had issues on the weekend receiving from another VF user. Samsung SGS on stock 2.2, message notification says 'downloading' and never gets it :/ though they send out just fine. I also tried enabling packet data (which i hadoff at the time as I'm at cap) to no avail.

I take it similarly its likely the MMS reception within the messaging app?

MMS *does* require packet data to be on, so that was probably the issue. After you enabled it you would have to wait for the app to retry the download... no idea what that would be, but you might be able to trigger it by a reboot or getting someone to send you another MMS.

Surely the MMS APN is exempt from the datacap limitations, otherwise how do dumb-phones receive MMS's?

My guess is that the previous poster had manually disabled data so that they wouldn't accidentally eat into their credit with "normal" data.

Affirmative. Smart phone too smart to work out the difference :)

Also smarter than me to work out whats eating the data when idle lol

Check out APNdroid for disabling data while leaving MMS enabled.
