Hi all,

I've read the basics, seems:

Telecom 3G is mainly on 850MHz,
Vodafone 3G is mainly on 900MHz,
2Degrees 3G is only on 2100MHz.

and all have some city coverage on 2100MHz.

Will a Telecom P500 work fully on Vodafones 3G networks of 900 and 2100MHz?

For some reason the Telecom aligned phones are much cheaper than Vodafones.
The phones specs suggest it should work, but are the Telecom units a special hybrid or something?

Cheers.

Telecom handset will work on Vodafone 2G and will work in some locations, where Vodafone has 2100 MHz coverage. Wherever Vodafone has only 3G 900 MHz they won't work at all.

The same with using a Telecom handset on 2degrees.

Thanks, so the phone itself is locked/only hardware capable for some frequencies?

That's not good enough for what I want so best I buy a Vodafone specific one then.

Thanks.

It's a radio thing. Radios will work on some frequencies only.

Yeah but some radios can tune to different bands and some can't....Wink

Was really just wondering if the Telecom P500's were 850 MHz band capable as well as the 900/2100 MHz Vodafone/2Degrees frequencies....

Or are they not capable of the 900MHz frequency at all?

ie are they quad band type units for 3G or a completely separate production unit that only does the Telecom frequencies etc.  Looking here it appears there are multiple units all over the world, so I'm leaning towards an actual Vodafone unit just to be sure Smile
