I am wondering if the Samsung Galaxy W will work on the XT network.
Comparing the frequencies with ones that do work, such as the Galaxy Y, they appear to be the same.
Sadly because you can't buy it in New Zealand, I would like to know if it works before importing it.
I do know that it has to be compatible with WCDMA 850 MHz, but it doesn't say it anywhere.
On phones like the Galaxy SII which do work on XT, it also doesn't mention it.

Can anyone help me?

GSMArena says it's a 900/2100 3G Phone, so effectively no. There will be limited (very) via 2100 3G infill in the main centres eg Auckland, Wellington ec.

If AT&T (USA) or Telstra Next G (Australia) sell an unlocked version then get those versions.

Hi, as you are aware to work in XT the phone must support WCDMA 850 as opposed to WCDMA 900 as used by Voda and 2Deg. Having not seen the exact model you are looking at purchasing and from where I should point out that the other Galaxy models come in tow variants ie the SGS comes as i9000 and i9000T the latter being the 850 model, therefore a generic spec sheet may not disclose that detail.

So if it's an unlocked version does it mean that it will work?
I was planning on buying it from Electron World.
So would this one here work?

Unlocked = Not tied to 1 particular carrier. Or customised firmware.

Which then relies on hardware capability.

Im sure theres a sticky about Xt network vs vf and requirements...

No. The commonly sold model will be the 900/2100 model. Unless you see it's being sold by AT&T or Telstra NextG, then best to pass. That's your safest bet.
