May have missed something in the update to the Play Store (from the Market), but since I upgraded I have been receiving a heap of adverts for apps in my Notification Bar.

I assume that one (or more) of the apps has a clause in it saying 'we reserve the right to send you adverts for partner applications when you install this application'

Can anyone enlighten me on these adverts?

Nothing to do with play upgrade its a service developers can choose to put into apps to generate revenue.

One of the providers is http://www.airpush.com/ - its been round alot longer than Google play.

Chances are an app you already had was updated and now uses airpush. I think there are ways around it but the most effective is to uninstall and leave negitive feed back.

There's an app in the market called Airpush Detector which will detect if that app is installed and will remove it for you. I got these pushes from some other app I installed and couldn't work out which app it was. That told me.

Airpush detector will find the offending app but it wont delete it. You need to do that manually. Make sure to leave negative feedback for the offending app otherwise airpush use will spread.

Installing Add On Dector now.

Over the weekend I deleted a bunch of the new apps I had installed around the same time that the Market Place was updated.

Found the offending game -- a 'free' Japanese RPG that was one of the top downloaded free games in the market.

Uninstalled.
Haven't yet left a 1 as a review, but should do to send the message.

*Goes back to iPod Touch to download random apps*
