it's called gimmick.

Just because YOU put your phone in a case, doesn't mean we all do. I have NEVER had any phone in a case, nor a cover on my screen. I don't intend to start now, and the colour IS a factor in my purchasing decision. I'll be going Blue this time.

If nobody cared, they'd all be black, or all blue, or all white etc. Clearly manufacturers are of the opinion that people do in fact care, otherwise they would not bother going to all the additional manufacturing and so on involved in producing multiple colours and effects.

You're quite right, people do care - especially when they're dropping $2k on a device and want to keep it for several years. This year has been a bit of a sea change for colour in phones with the traditional black not necessarily retaining its comfortable #1 spot. Clear cases are popular. Huawei's pioneering two-tone designs have really resonated globally and I expect we'll see more of these.

The challenge for NZ comes in a combination of minimum order quantities vs. market cap/demand, and the telcos being quite conservative with exotic colours after getting burned in years past. AU got 512GB in blue, copper, and black because AU is big enough to overcome the MOQ.

If we could just take ~30 units in whatever colour and see how it goes, that'd be great, but it's unfortunately not that easy!

Yeah surprisingly enough blue is the hot colour this year in Android flagships. Blue phones never used to fly in NZ, times (and hues!) change. Dig my blue V30+. The Ocean Blue Note9 is a nice shade, yellow pen not to my tastes personally but heaps of folks are into it. Golden State and all that. Samsung are ONLY selling the blue and a lilac-style option in the US, bold move.

I would probably stump for the 512GB model if I could get it in Blue.

Anyone in Aussie on the 24th? :)

Yellow pen does nothing for me, I'd prefer it was in any other colour closer to that of the phone, but the Blue is absoloutely stunning.

The screen is said to be the best in existence in any smartphone, and I'd agreed based on how impressed I was with it, which isn't insignificant given I've owned every series galaxy flagship since 1

In theory, yes. However the majority of Note 9's bought by contributors here will be back on the market in approx 6 months when the S10+ drops (-;

i guess you didn't read my post.

when big companies design something, they would go for something popular. obviously you are in the minority group. last i check over 80% people put some sort of case on their phone.

Yes. They say that but I just had a confirmation of tracking although still waiting for my another order dispatch confirmation. I suppose they are sending it out as orders are placed.
