UnitedWeFall: I got my S3 from Telecom last night. Just playing around with it today, its been on for 2 hours and i'm looking at what's using the battery. The cell standby is at 50%. Seems a bit excessive? On my previous phones its been closer to 10%. Anyone got any clues why this might be?

This usually improves after a couple of charge cycles..

Gilco2:
defragger: JB just won't budge saying its below their cost price. Noel leeming only vodafone version. Whs waiting on their delivery. This is at Mt Maunganui.
I paid $944 at JB Hi Fi in Bayfair yesterday.? They had 3 left in the cupboard afterwards.? This will work on any network.? Also gave 50% off a micro sim card and transferred my number to it then.

Yeah I am trying to get them to match Noel Leeming which they won't do. How much does the Vodafone version differ from the Telecom one?

Hrm I know the battery life improves, but the cell standby usage? How does that work?

I wouldn't get too hung up on it honestly, the battery life is good regardless of the cell standby usage. In relation to cell standby I wonder whether that reflect S-Voice's pervasive presence. I'll be turning S-Voice off at some point and will be interested to see the comparison there...

I honestly dont know. JB didnt even ask what network when I asked about the phone.  They grabbed one out and then said I will need a micro sim and that was when she asked what network so dont really know what difference if any there is

According to the techradar.com review, if s voice is set to be activated from the lock screen you will use a lot more juice.

Hmm interesting. I don't think S Voice would be worth having on if it used significantly more battery tbh.

That reminds me, loving the fact that you can disable stock apps.

I think it is fine to use in general. But you need to disable it from the lock screen as that uses a lot of power as it is always listening to what you say.
