Managed to pick up the last S3 from WHS Kilbirnie at 9:20 am for $840. Very helpful shop assistant had one left because the person who had pre-ordered it decided they wanted blue. He was really worried that he wouldn't sell it and met the $840 price as soon as I mentioned it. Decided not to push for the extra 5% - I was just relieved to be able to get it.

Had the option to pay on Q card etc, but used goldcard instead because we pick up the flybuys and get an additional 2yr warranty etc.

It's reading 100% charged now, but I might just leave it a bit longer. Need to get SIM cut too.

What shall I do with my (still pretty good and running ICS) HTC Desire? might chuck a data-only sim in it with no credit and let the kids use it. Or perhaps a-live-in-the lounge remote control.

Noel Leeming in Palmerston North wasn't sent any stock (not unusual for here) and said that the sale applies " only while stocks last". Further, they said that as they had never had stock the 20% off sale never applied to the Samsung Galaxy S3. I called Customer Services and they said the sale applies and also applies to rainchecks. Left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing with that chain.

Anyone else in Palmerston North managed to buy one at a discounted price?

Neets: @Und3f, I presume your pre order was for a white S3, yes.

Currently in Dubai and the stores here have no stock of S3 phones. Not even a display model.

I'd like to think my website present order with WHS will be on my desk when I return on Wednesday, but as it's for Pebble Blue, I suspect I'll have to be patient.

To the person who got WHS to match competitors price, had you pre ordered and not yet received the S3? Cheers.

Yes mine is white. Blue is not going to be here till mid June.

Its mid june now! ish.........
I had to go use the silly samsung price at noel leemings to get a tab, hopefully that will hold me over for new toys until my blue arrives...................

I was in the Palmy store this morning, they said they hadn't had any interest and that "no one knows they exist yet", you may have had the same salesperson as me, I actually pointed out he was trying to charge me half of what he should have been (when will I grow some balls)! JB in the plaza had some on Thursday but didn't have any on display, it could be worth trying them on for a match? Sounds like some have had success!!??

Norman Ross guaranteed me that they had the cheapest prices in town this weekend, I don't know if they have the S3 tho, worth a shot.... (i'm guessing you have tried if you were at noel leeming across the road though right?)

MurrayM: I rang the Warehouse Stationery Albany store and spoke to a nice chap called James. When I told him about the Noel Leeming's 20% off sale he said he would match that and when I mentioned this forum and people getting an extra 5% off he agreed to that too. So ended up costing me $797. Just have to wait 2 - 3 weeks now for delivery.

When I went in to pay they tried to sell me a "No Worries Warranty" for $80. Gives me an extra 2 years warranty as well as "fair wear and tear cover". They said this wouldn't cover a smashed screen, which is my main worry, so don't think I will get this extra warranty, I'll just make use of the Consumer Guarantees Act if the phone dies outside it's normal warranty. Are there any insurance policies that cover smashed screens?

to be fair a smashed screen isn't a warranty issue and the offered extended warranties are a bit of a rort in most cases as they CGA covers most of it.

My insurance covers the screen as used already, think you would need to check your type of cover though

warehouse stationary is willing to give off 25% of the price but said needed printed proof(so he can attach it the there receipt for records said be better to pay full up now as well ,just incase lol ) from noels 20% off offer ... the guy said even print of the noels website be good enough but when comes to buy it they might want real proof ...i see if i can find sale price sgs 3 on noels site ....

Went and had a look this morning at 2Degrees in Riccarton mall Chch. With the offer they have (for me) I will only pay $30 more than do now so thats $720 for phone with extra minutes/data as well as interest free terms of 2 years. They confirmed plan offer is open until July 1st but like everyone else have no eta on Blue.

The white is so nice and the phone stunning in person. Really gorgeous in white. So torn as I really wanted the Blue. Was very very hard to resist. Vodafone and Telecom shops also had big queues around the phone looking at them.

Ill give it a couple of weeks but so tempted by white one now.

i got a e-mailer with the 20% off samsung stuff on it, doesnt specifically state that it is off the phone, just that its off ALL samsung products

although I liked the white a bit more than at first it may be just the urge to justify buying one and not waiting for the blue one which does look ok to me.

Thinking overnight I think I will hold out for blue so at least i can see it first and make a better decision. My SGS2 is still going well so no real reason to upgrade other than getting the latest and greatest, hopefully we will see the blue in next few weeks, if its longer then i may take white.

as an aside it will be interesting to see what Apple come up with later this year, the competition between all these phones is certainly good for the consumer.

I just pre-ordered the 32GB Blue from NL in Albany. They let me have the 20% off, so I'm getting it for $919.

They were selling their last one at JB's while I was there, but they have one on display that you can play with.

Noel Leeming in Palmerston North is a joke. Norman Ross has a few in stock. They will sell at $899. Trying to get them to price match lower now.

Had preodered and was going to recieve it today. But saw that Noel Leeming has it for a hundred bux cheaper so cancelled it. Then went for a mission to find one. Ended up at WHS who match + gave 5% off. So so happy!
