Still Android 8.1.0
I think this shows updates are very... random in the way they are delivered.
This is a Spark handset with a Vodafone SIM card.

I succumbed to impatience and upgraded to Pie last night, after doing the August patches yesterday. I have to say it's the easiest upgrade process ever - copy the ZIP to internal storage, rename and reboot.
The only issue this morning was no mobile data. I re-entered the Skinny APN settings all was well again.

I have decided to visit these pages and check the contents. Since these are not Nokia official downloads and procedures I think it's fair to say anyone going down this path can't complain later if updates through normal chanels don't work.

True enough! I manually updated the first August security patch, and the second one came through via OTA afterwards, so here's hoping though.
Nokia 6.1
"Your system is up to date
Android version: 8.1.0
Security Patch level: 1 September 2018
Last successful check for update at 12:05 [today]"
Spark phone, Spark SIM card
This is really quite disappointing as AndroidOne was my main motivation in selecting this phone

2degrees SIM on Spark phone. The September patch wasn't released until 25/09, so not holding out hope for an earlier release in the month, but at least it came down automatically without any SIM shenanigans.
I haven't seen anything around the webs where other 6.1 users have received an October update, so no point mashing the update yet.

For what it's worth; I rolled back to using the rollback image from the developer preview (had to switch active fastboot slot so the validator thought I was still on the previous release and allowed it) and seem to be receiving OTA updates fine (installing August at the moment).
Used adb to check where the System Updater was downloading the updates from and the URLs were the same as the ones in the XDA post. Was also able to find that https://www.c2dms.com/api/v1/SWImage/SystemUpgrade (it calls a few apis beforehand to start a session etc which is why I'm assuming it 404s) is the upgrade check URL. Seems like the builds aren't carrier specific, but carriers do have some control over when they go out in certain regions. Since Spark is the official Nokia distributor for NZ I'm guessing they give the sign off for it here.
Just got updated OTA to 00WW_2_22M the other day. I'm not really interested in sideloading etc. 2degrees SIM (but I tried the other day with my Spark SIM, no different).
Did something happen as a result of this thread (or at least the people on this thread) to kick things off? Any chance Pie is coming soon... It feels like someone finally got the message to the right people, but maybe not. Is there anything (easy) I can do to speed up the availability of my updates?

Quite possibly, yes. A few here had contacted Spark and were told that Spark had been approving the updates but something broke down on the Nokia side.
Assuming that process is fixed, I would not be surprised if we see Pie fairly soon.
NokiaGuy: Brace yourself everyone. You'll have Pie momentarily 😎🥧
That'd be nice. Hope you are who your profile says you are 😂
bruzie:The September security patch for 6.1 is available now, and I didn't have to resort to any SIM/VPN shenanigans to get it.
NokiaGuy: lol credibility check huh. You won't be disappointed.
I was beginning to doubt you, but not any more.
