Sorry if someone mentioned, but have you tried going to Warehouse Stationary? They sell the same XT model and they even give you 5% below the Noel Leeming price using their price match policy, you just need to take the print out of the price.

I did this. I went in on sunday and asked them to price match.

The guy countered saying no Noel Leeming in Auckland has any stock and they only price match if the store has it in stock. I asked if i could read the policy - and yea it was in the policy that the store needs to have it in stock. I called up Noel Leeming and found that they had stock in the Morrinsvile store. I told the guy that they do have stock at that store (the fine print didnt say it had to be the same city).

In the end, the manager came, saw the price on the website (she just wanted to check that it wasnt an online only offer), price matched it and gave 5% off - 758 all up

YOU are lucky buster,haha

I did the same thing. Got a print out of NL offer then wen to warehouse stationary kilbirnie. The lady just looked at the flyer and said "OK ill even give you a 5% discount on top" SO sweet! Im so lucky with my HTC ONE. Totally different build quality. Reminds me of my Nexus One!

Has Telecom confirmed 4G support? "Aaron" from the chat service said it will. But the website doesn't confirm it unlike the s4s page which states it will in October.

Hey, did it last friday. I regret not getting the 20% deal last xmas for the Nexus 4 so this time i grabbed the promo asap!

I got a charger bundle off ebay, and the car charger that came in the pack says V8-V9 on it. I don't see any other specs on it.
I don't want to mess my phone up so I thought I'd see if anyone knows whether it's safe to use it or not.
Any advice?

Charger failed on me last night. Anyone had this happen before? Its not so much an issue of the charger but an issue of the cable, specifically the end that goes into the phone. Plug it in and nothing happens. Plug seems to be very loose in the socket of the phone and slides out easily. At first I thought it was an issue with the connector on my phone but my car charger worked fine this morning - luckily. Will take the cable out of my car and try it again tonight. Not very stoked that a charger can die within four weeks of purchase.

UnitedWeFall: What is everyone's experience with Google Now? I've had my One for a week and the only info card I get is the weather.. yay.

I realise this isn't HTC One specific, but I'm interested none the less.

GOOGLE NOW IN NZ - TIPS

I get heaps of cards, though I have been using Google Now for about a year. There are a few things to set before it will really work.

Make sure your "Web History" is enabled for your Google account, and make sure you are signed in to your Google account when you use your computer browser - this will send info about your web searches to Google Now on your phone.

For example, if look up a restaurant menu on your computer, when you open Google Now on your phone it will show a card with directions to the restaurant, driving time, and traffic conditions.

If you want current movies cards to show, search for currently playing movies - either on your computer (which is signed in to your Google account) or on your phone - on weekends. I only get movies cards on Fridays.

Likewise, "Continue Researching" cards will show for things you have recently searched as long as "Web History" is enabled.

Make sure your "Location History" is enabled in Google Maps

Set your "Home" and "Work" locations by address in "My Places" in Google Maps

After a few days, Now will learn what time you drive to and from work, and Traffic cards will pop up about 30 minutes before your commute. If traffic is unusually heavy, you will get a notification in your notification bar. It helps if you have wifi networks in both places and leave wifi turned on while it's learning (Now checks location by wifi and cell tower signals rather than GPS most of the time)

Use Google Calendar to keep your appointments, and always input an address for each appointment. That way, Now will give you a notification telling you when to leave for the appointment, based on current traffic conditions.

Set sports teams to follow in Now - if they're out of season, obviously you won't get any cards. No rugby teams are supported yet.

Set reminders: once Now learns what time you commute to and from work, you can set voice reminders by saying "Remind me to buy milk when I leave work". You will get a notification reminder a few minutes before your normal commute time.

Likewise, you can set location based reminders by saying "Remind me to buy milk at New World" - which will bring up a pop up letting you confirm the address of New World - or "Remind me to do laundry when I get home". Again, it helps a ton to have your Home and Work set in My Places in Google Maps.

Glad you both got this deal. It really depends on the manager on site. Some people just give the 5% down the advertised price and give it, and some check if its relevant for the day. The warehouse stationary store in East Tamaki went a bit more in offering me extended warranty free because the price dropped at NL within 14 days of my purchase :)

Thanks very much for that, heaps of great info!

However even with all of the right settings turned on, I still only ever get the weather card. Google Now has only been turned on for a week, so maybe it just needs more time?

Mine mostly just gives me weather and time to work / home cards - however if I have searched for something local I often get something to do with that the next day or so. Ie the other night I was looking at movie times on my desktop, then when I was out at the mall google now popped up showing me todays sessions at the mall cinema, pretty groovy. Did the same thing with a restaurant menu I was looking up, popped up on my phone when I went out to pick up the food - wasn't particularly useful but it worked out what I was up to I guess.

If you're signed in everywhere I imagine it will start popping up with stuff when it establishes patterns. I also sometimes have it say hey are you interested in this new location? and showing something I regularly visit.

In other news - I'm yet to breach the 3 hour screen time threshold in a single charge days phone usage... however I'm getting slightly better mileage by setting what apps I can to have black or dark backgrounds. The white background really eats the power quick.
