Woot! Just preceded blue 32gb for 913 from noel leeming :-)

I would have been happy paying retail on a few weeks time but silly not to save 200+ dollars eh?

Yeah this simply the glue.that being used unevenly. You may have an unlucky draw. My S2 got this on the edges and some small blobs when viewing black in the dark. But I doubt that you'd get a replacement from Samsung, you might be the lucky one to get a new one. :)
I hope my S3 won't be like this.

So you reckon I won't get a replacement? I mean its evidently defective, even if it is just glue.

Went back to WHS, they wanted me to get contact with Samsung for a ref number. I said I don't want to do that, so they will get in contact on behalf of me and see if they can get a replacement.?

I really hope they don't come back and say that I need it to send it for repairs. Pretty sure under consumer rights I can ask for a replacement as it is within 7 days of the product being sold.?

Gah what a hassle. Wonder if I should just go to Noel Leeming and order one, and ask for a refund at WHS.

At a guess I would expect a repair or replace at samsungs and/or whs descretion. Ive made a couple of warantee claims over the last 12 months and found it easiest to deal directly with the manufacturer, I have no experience with samsung tho. Dealing with the retailer just adds another level of communication difficulty. My advice - if you want it sorted today try whs (looks like this has failed already), if you actually want the problem sorted deal with samsung yourself! Might take a few days, or weeks if unlucky, but you'll get what you want! My experiences have shown the manufacturer does care what you think of the product, retailer treats you like a problem theyd rather not deal with. I'd be very careful buying another, might end up with 2!

RE Samsung. I had an issue with my mothers Samsung LCD TV. Took it to the local approved rapairer, they rung Samsung to get a reference number. I'd call Samsung, that just seems to be their process rather than a hassle problem. Once its in their system I am sure all will be well, no issues with my Mums TV warranty issue after that.

Details were just make and model, serial number, place and date of purchase.

Wade: This is a pure black image I used as a wallpaper on my S2

Can't notice anything strange in the dark, must've been the video file

Has anyone found any decent screen protectors? I wasn't going to put one on my new SGS3 but changed my mind after seeing reports that people are getting scratches.

Sweet. I hope my replacement is defectless. Might be waiting till the end of the month but I'm still happy with the price I paid.

Hope WHS get back to me with what's happening tomorrow, since Samsung were probably closed for the public holiday.

How effective are everyone's Smart Stay feature when you use it? Does it become ineffective when you activate the battery saving mode?

I find that the feature is not effective all the time, I can see that eye icon popping up along side signal and battery status bar and then the next second the screen switches off.

Just order like 10x of them.or something
They are cheap as chip anyway. I have order 10 and once came with the case. All screen protector is the same. Buying a cheap one isn't different from the expensive branded one. Just get yourself a few spares.

Ok time for people to list their top 3 features in order of things they couldn't live without on this phone after having it?

Everyone on this board is a serious enabler ... we should use such power and influence for the betterment of humankind, instead of twisting each others' rubber arms into upgrading our geek toys! :)

Yes, thanks to reading all of your "I just got mine - and it's great" posts, I caved and went to Noel Leeming today and pre-ordered a 16GB blue S3. Just couldn't resist the price with 20% off - no hassles or questions from the sales team - they said they'd had quite a few S3 pre-orders over the long weekend.

Should be major step up from my current phone - a Huawei u8150 (single core 528Mhz, 256MB RAM, 2.8" 240x320 screen).

Only query: the Noel Leeming phones are apparently 'Vodafone' ones - but I given that I'm with 2 degrees, I assume it will be easy to wipe/root/flash it to unlock it if it is indeed locked to Vodafone?

No need to do anything. All the SGS3's in NZ work on all our networks. Just add SIM card (which is a micro SIM) and go.  I had to reboot mine for the 2Degrees settings to update but that's all. Buying outright gives you an unlocked phone.

I am going to put an FAQ in my first post to stop the endless questions about this device.

Anyone want to contribute?

I might - if I could find any. The universal screen protectors are too small and I haven't managed to find anyone selling the custom screen protectors for the S3. I've already had a disaster with cutting down a tablet screen protector because it was too stiff to curve over the screen.
