dauckland: Not trolling, just commenting.
I was holding out thinking I might get the S4 when it's out.
In the end I haven't and am getting HTC One
The main reason: front facing speakers!!!

This is the big question for me.

My experience with the Xperia Z and HTC Butterfly make me very concerned about the One battery life, although some like Brian Klug of Anandtech seem OK with it. If the S4 brings solid battery savings (as the Exynos Quad did last year compared to competitors offerings) that may well be the tipping point for me. As it stands I would rather stay with my Note 2 than move up to one of these 1080p-screened phones: battery life, battery life, battery life.

interesting that we seem to have the same discussions on new items, I recall this is similar to the intro of the S3 last year and there were those that commented on what they didn't like and why they were staying with/buying whatever it was they liked. I recall the HTC one X was up there but it disappeared into obscurity after the S3 got established.

I think its great we have so much choice in what we buy and for whatever reasons but don't see the need to trash new phones as they arrive in an effort to make me feel better about my choices (not saying anyone on here does this either) suffice if you don't like it get something else :)

So true, what good are the specs if they have no juice?
Unless the One is mind blowingly better than the One X, it will not have enough power to be a true smartphone.
Any decent phone should be able to get through a day of 3g, gps and mp3 no problem.

I am not a fan of "infographics" because most of those I've seen around blogs are more spam than anything else. However I've got one that *IS* related to the discussion, so I'm posting it here.

Great infographic! Could you perhaps add it to my first post?

When are you posting your review of the Butterfy? Lucky early purchasers of the One seem to say the battery isn't that bad at all.

I still can't figure why there is a sheep in the infographic....?? Undecided

And I noticed this morning that the "Life companion" has made an appearance on Vodafone's coming Soon page...    ( http://www.vodafone.co.nz/coming-soon/ )

A little bit of waiting to be done yet.
Maybe counting sheep?

From the latest information is it fairly likely that the networks here will give us the Snapdragon 600 version, since that is the one they are releasing in markets with 4G like the UK. I see Vodafone's 'coming soon' page has it with 4G, which seems like that means no Octa.

Do we want the Octa or the Snapdragon? If the Octa is better and not available here I may import one.

Will the Snapdragon 600 be compatible with Telecom's 4G LTE when it eventuates? I'm assuming it's already compatible with Voda's 4G LTE.

I would need to look at specs, but if the 600 is anything like the S4 Pro in my Xperia Z it will support something like six different LTE bands, so I would expect it to work on Telecom 4G also when they roll that out.

Regards which to opt for Octa Vs 600? Not really sure as yet, the Octa-equipped one hasn't really been out in the wild a great deal and nobody hows how much better its performance and battery use could be. Battery life would be the key differentiator for me.
