Does anyone know how to access the digital wellbeing app, it says it is installed but i cant find it on my sons 7 plus.

It's in beta, so you need to go to the Play Store and join the beta program. It'll then need to download a little update and finally it'll appear in Settings.

Mine (7 Plus) installed today 24 hours after I purchased it now on Pie.

yep just reading about it now...can u remove the google search bar from main screen..i cant seem to get rid of it

My wife's 7 Plus went to Pie last nite. She wants to know how to move the search bar back to the top as you can't seem to drag it up ..

Have you tried to unlock your phone with a non-registered finger?

Mine unlocks with any finger on the sensor.

Another oddity when you make appointment on calendar, you no longer get option to choose a colour. In past you had a range of choices now it's brown only

A new launcher arrived with Android Pie, called Quickstep. As you've found, there is very little customisation available in the settings, especially any ability to move the search bar to the top, or even remove it altogether. You might want to try the Lawnchair Launcher, which has heaps of settings and should get you back to a look similar to pre-Pie.

the launchers i c ther r a few microsoft ,,evie nova,action all get good reveiws..are they just an app so if u downlooad it and dont like it u just uninstall../?

Yes, you can uninstall them if they're not what you want, just like any other app downloaded from the Play Store. To enable a new launcher app, you change the "Home app" in the "Default apps" part of Settings -> Apps & Notifications to whichever one you're trying out.
