It's stock and unrooted.
Also have AVG app which I see scans any downloads.

And an Update:  Just now noticed it was back, This time an invite to take part in the 'Green Card Lottery'.
I'd checked the AVG was active and opened the alert.
- Screen briefly flashed to another app (River IQ) before going to an official looking US Govt. Webpage (USCG??) complete with Fill in Fields to apply for the Green card, location field 'New Zealand' was already completed.
- Closed window. Run 'AVG', It finds/deletes a malicious message
- Uninstall 'River IQ' game
- Run 'History Eraser'
- Open browser, clear history,cache,cookies

Hopefully thats got it sorted.

 a larger battery for the Defy+ (1700mAh  vs 1540mAh)

Anybody got an idea where I would go looking for this larger battery? I'm assuming it is compatible, anybody know?

I am still loving my Defy but I am, of course, wondering about upgrades.

With this bigger battery I could use the current one as a spare. And who doesn't want longer battery life?

Does anybody also know if the standard cellphone on trade me by PowerGen, http://www.trademe.co.nz/Mobile-phones/Accessories/Chargers/Nokia/auction-405886602.htm, are compatible with the Defy's battery?

Also any good ideas for accessory sites? One of those fold over cases that can store credit cards would be good if there is such a thing.

thanks all.

Didn't anybody tell you I was a hacker?

Pbtech used to sell a battery extender - basically a battery pack with a usb cable. You would plug the pack into your phone when out and about and it would boost your battery / recharge it. For about $30 it was a good solution.
+ batteries dont appear to be released yet, but initially some debate whether they would use the same pins.

oxnsox: Now this is odd and odder

Few weeks ago I changed my SIM, upgraded from a fairly original 32k one to a 256k. This coincided with a plan change at VF.

I immediately noticed a SIM icon in the notification bar and having read on other threads about this wasn't too worried.

Last evening (about mid rugby) in the middle of reading a txt the phone effectively did a soft reset... powered itself off and restarted... Odd incident No.1.
However the obvious net result of this was that the SIM icon disappeared from the notification bar.

Forward to today... check the handset for missed-calls/messages (been doing lawns) and see a little Red Star in the Notification bar... Odd incident No.2.
Pull the bar down and there's some reference to 'getting a Green card' and link to a site I choose to ignore/delete (the greenback just doesn't do it for me), but it looks like some association to Motorola as theres a 'moto' reference in the url

Has anyone else seen this??

Unit is running Stock 2.2.2

Sounds a little like 'Airpush'.  A new way of advertising.  I had it infest my phone.  Here is a link to the thread I started about it and how it was resolved.

Heres an example I found:

There are other variations on the theme of course.

So is the Defy+, either 3G-HSDPA xt 850/2100 or voda-2deg 900/2100? I see clove.co.uk selling the 900/2100 model.  Some news mentions that the Defy+ maybe multi-band like some Nokia phones.  I.e. 850/900/1700/2100. I'd be keen on getting the model that works on both xt and voda.

I think you'll find its either / or..... not both.  Motorola don't seem to be into the multi-market (penta band) radio like other manufacturers (Apple, Nokia, Samsung), which I think it's a bit odd as Motorola have always been known to me as an (RF) 'radio' company

Thanks for that Dingbatt. I read the original thread when it came up but couldn't remember a topic tag to search for it.

Anybody using MIUI on their Defy? I'd like to know if the email client allows Exchange Global Address List lookups, and if the ROM includes, or if Defy Baseband Switcher is downloadable?
