What launcher are you using? Touchwiz, or a 3rd party launcher?

I am using touchwiz which came with the phone.

Also I cannot sync the phone with my cars parrot Bluetooth system. I keep getting a message from parrot Bluetooth stating menu is full. Not sure what it means?

Sounds like you've reached the maximum number of devices the parrot can be paired with!

Android user, software developer, a semi-typical (not a gamer) geek, and a Bernese Mountain Dog nut!

I only have 2 devices paired.this was my third device.

Parrot should do 5 devices, they use bluetooth 2.0 but should still work, can you clear or reset it?

Mate bought an SGS3 from 2D on release day, it fell out of his pocket onto a tiled floor the following evening, screen shattered. It was even in a plastic case.

Poor bugger.

ouch, is he going to replace it? It seems the $13 a month insurance policies might be money well spent with these new smartphones, I know a few iphone 4s owners who have damaged them.

Where do I get these insurance policies from? I'm worried that I'll drop my new S3 and smash the screen. But the extended warranty I was offered when I bought the phone doesn't cover smashed screens, just normal wear and tear.

Yeah, I think he's going to hit up his contents insurance. The 4s is a breakage magnet, glass and metal are not great shock absorbers, at least the SGS3 has _some_ plastic to hopefully bounce rather than break, obviously doesn't always save the day though.

You would be probably better off checking your standard household contents policy, you might want to compare the cost of an excess and maybe depreciation but versus $13/mth you might break even

After using my SGS3 for a few days now I am starting to regret updating from the SGS2. The new one is great and battery life is very good but, out-of-the-box, its more gimmick than improvement. I love the new features and as I was using voice commands on the S2 the improvements are welcome. BUT, I feel cheated in terms of the default apps.

I used Polaris Office a lot. On the S3 there is a Polaris viewer which is read-only. It is not directly accessible as an app and has none of the features of Polaris Office beyond being able to view the document. Video Maker is another app that is on the S2 but missing on the S3. Without it, video files are too big to send via email. Books - another one gone. Not an issue for people who didn't use Google books but since I did and they are no longer available on my phone its just another annoyance.

None of these are available from the play store or samsung apps by the way. It's also possible that our NZ carriers are to blame, rather than Samsung, but whoever is responsible for providing a pretty phone that doesn't do much has left me pretty disappointed.

The S2 was brilliant for productivity. The S3 pretty darned poor. In this respect, I think Samsung has taken a backward step. Great hardware is all very well, but the default apps meant that the S2 was very usable at the get-go. The S3 is not.

Have you tried Kingsoft Office International as an alternative to Polaris Office?

it is very early days for this device as the popularity grows so will the new apps come a aboard it just going to take time unfortunely

I'd love that - if they worked. Have you tested them to see if they work okay?

I ported my ICS build of Polaris Office over from my S2 and it worked once, but then I got a notice saying it wasn't available to be used on the device. The built-in Polaris Viewer has an option to get the full version from Samsung "More Services" but its not there (a problem a lot of people are reporting over on xda and other forums). I wasn't able to get the apk of Video Maker from my S2. Same with Books. Google Play Store won't even show their Google books app on the store, although it shows up in other regions.
