Thanks...Trying to avoid a reset. Hate that sh*t! Or more precisely, the amount of effort required to get back to where you were before...I might try unrooting, maybe relock the bootloader also. Wonder if I have to s-on again also?

Definitely no viruses on my phone however.

I'm still running CWM recovery but I understand that the update still shows up, you just can't install it with CWM. I've been looking for links to the stock 4.1.2 recovery image online but have had no luck so far...

Yep. I'm on 2Degrees but using a Telecom model brought from Dick Smiths 3-4 weeks ago. Still on 4.1.2.

I dont mind as I'm still learning Android as it is so dont miss any features in 4.2 but its still annoying updates take this long, esp after coming from iPhone where once the update is out, as long as your phone supports it, its available to download.

today didnt go well so didnt get any time to try in store. Due to time limits went into store and bought the HTC One without trying. Get home and it feels like it cuts into the hand. Time will tell, also way back April I bought a Nilken case so will put that on. I checked it after seeing here and net about gaps but this is perfect. On charge at moment so will play with it later

HTPC Intel Pentium G3258 cpu, Gigabyte H97n-wifi motherboard, , 8GB DDR3 ram, onboard graphics. Hauppuage HVR 5500 tuner, Silverstone LC16M case, Windows 10 pro 64 bit using Nextpvr and Kodi

Unlocked bootloader and S-Off can stay. They won't prevent you from getting it.

I'm going to try uploading the NZ 4.2 software again today. Since you're unlocked etc that would the be easiest way for you to get it.

Ok here goes...

HTC One 2.24.980.2 Software ... Download

This is the complete stock software. Non-rooted etc. I made the flashable zip right after doing the 4.2.2 OTA.

You will need a custom recovery (CWM or TWRP) to flash it.

Make sure you do a backup first and I'd highly recommend a factory reset in recovery after flashing.

This will work on Telecom NZ, Vodafone NZ, Vodafone AU and Optus sourced Ones.

If you wish to receive future OTA updates, you will need to flash the stock recovery.

after many reviews and much searching bought one today. Vodafone model. It has to be the worst camera of any phone I have had over last 3 years. This on default settings. Will have to try different settings to improve. photos come out blurry as well. Screen is much darker than my HTC One X or the Samsung Galaxy S3. Also after holding phone for a couple of minutes hand gets very sore. Most uncomfortable phone ever to be held. Will have to look for a case to make it more comfortable. Just hope I can get the photos better. Just not a patch on the One X.
Will play with it more tomorrow to see if can improve it.
When I charged it, it then did a software update then after that it did an OS update to 4.2.2
But at moment very disapointed with it

@Gilco - Could you upload an image that you have taken that is blurry?

Also, a bit of a noob question, but how do I get data (3g) to work? I thought it was just a simple insert your sim and away you go. Wi-Fi works fine no trouble, but I cant seem to connect to 3G. Im on 2degrees.

When I select mobile data (In settings) to "on" it just says disconnected. I have Network mode set to GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto. Network operator is 2degrees.

Am I missing something or....? Should I buy a VF/Telecom sim and try that? I bought my handset from Dick Smith.

Google to find the 'APN' settings for your network, they're specific but simple settings that enable data on your phone.

Make sure you tap to focus!! Otherwise yea the camera isn't as great as made out, compared to an S4, but I do like how wide it is. If you are focusing correctly it could be down to the 4MP camera and the 2MP screen you're viewing it on, there is only one level of zoom since the camera is only 2x the resolution of the screen. Some pretty strong post processing going on also that makes the images muddier than they should be.

I agree, it isn't the most comfortable to hold at first but I found after a day or so that changes and I don't like picking up an S3 or 4.

For screen brightness check your settings, I've found the auto brightness to be a little off at times. I usually have it set around 40% brightness fulltime and that is fine even in an outdoor setting.

Camera is very hard to judge, everyone has their own opinions on it but the consensus on forums like Xda is that you need to tweak the default settings a little, especially exposure. Play around with those and it makes a big difference.

Finally got my 4.2.2 update tonight. Purchased my phone from Noel Lemming, I believe it's a Vodafone AU model. Will report back on how the update goes.
