bradstewart: The HTC Double Dip case I ordered from Ebay on Mon arrived this morning. It is genuine and looks awesome.

At that price I'm going to order a few more different colours so I can mix and match.

Awesome can't wait for mine to arrive!

HTC One 2.24.980.2 Software ... Download

This is the complete stock software. Non-rooted etc. I made the flashable zip right after doing the 4.2.2 OTA.

You will need a custom recovery (CWM or TWRP) to flash it.

Make sure you do a backup first and I'd highly recommend a factory reset in recovery after flashing.

This will work on Telecom NZ, Vodafone NZ, Vodafone AU and Optus sourced Ones.

If you wish to receive future OTA updates, you will need to flash the stock recovery.

I definitely agree! Thanks to bradstewart, my phone is now back to running the stock 4.2.2, ready for any new OTA updates.

Is there anyone having this issue in new zealand? because mine broke 3weeks ago. Got a NZD $366 quota from the retailer. This is ridiculous. I never drop my phone and always has the case on. Found it that way when took out of my pocket. I am definitely not happy to pay for it.

The photo in that thread clearly shows an impact or pressure on the glass, it doesn't just break.

You may not have dropped it but anything could have pressed on it while it was in your pocket.

However I think $366 is a little too much to replace the glass, although having watched the teardown videos I can tell you wouldn't be a quick or easy job.

Can HTC be contacted directly? I'm not sure if they have an NZ office.

But there were just too many people from different place having the same issue, which i think this will be a quality issue. i had complained this to HTC, and they just told me to find more about the phone on their offcial website, http://www.htc.com/au/, and suggest communicating with Noel Leeming to further discuss this matter. They are just helpless.

Hi guys, terrible news. On Saturday I was snowboarding on Turoa and I took a bit of a tumble and my phone fell out of my inside jacket pocket. Due to it being a pretty much white phone, and the fact that it was in a white out, Im resigned to the fact that it is gone and I wont be getting it back. Pretty gutted about it but nothing can be done now.

Ive lodged a claim with my insurance company and for the meaty (read $300) excess, I should hopefully be getting a new one soon.

I have a question though, does anyone have any experience in dealing with Expansys? They have a black 32gb for sale, but they dont list any of the compatible bands. They say it is LTE capable but I'm not so sure. Pretty happy with the price, even if I get stung for GST at the border its still only $896, $200 less than what I paid for it back in May.

So yeah, if anyone with any experience of Expansys could let me in on what you went through Id be very appreciative.

That really sucks losing your phone.

The variant you want is the 801s, the 801n is the it Europe, US and Canada and is incompatible with LTE here.

The 801s black is available in 32 and 64Gb variants from Expansys.

Also unless I'm missing something, you shouldn't be pinged by customs for GST given you're buying it from an NZ site who will presumably be charging you GST.

I bought my Motorola Milestone through Expansys several years ago and it was really easy. You'll have to pay GST for sure, but from my experience they are quite prompt at delivering and the product was in good condition. They also included a UK to NZ power plug adapter.

I got all my OTA updates fine (although Motorola rarely made any).

The downside though is that they say the manufacturer is responsible for warranty, and Motorola advised me that they don't do warranty or repairs for international models. I couldn't even get a local repairer to fix it, because it was another year before they got released here. In my case it was only a faulty headphone jack, and I went bluetooth instead. But you might want to check out what would happen if it became faulty.

If you snowboard a lot, you might also want to consider waiting for the Sony Honami, which I suspect will be water resistant like the Xperia Z. It's a large phone though. And I do love my HTC, which I'm sure you did as well ;)

Thanks all for your condolences.

Im pretty keen on a new One, but I wouldnt mind going to something with a Snapdragon 800 in it. Thanks for your tips on Expansys, Ill take them into consideration when deciding on my next move.

Does anyone have issues with the One with getting camera shots in focus? I've had the One about a month now and I'm really struggling to get any in focus shots. The lens is clean which i thought would be the problem, but doesn't matter if I'm indoors in low light or at the beach with my daughter on a clear sunny day, pretty much 95% of the shots I take are out of focus and noisy. Even if I touch to focus on an object like my daughters face the shots are far from crisp. Is this one the One's camera is like day to day for most people?

I love the HTC One for everything except the camera at the minute and its making me seriously consider selling it already :(

mine is the same. Have found I get approx 1 in 2o shots perfect, the rest blurry out of focus and noisy. But the good ones are good. DOnt know why. Think it must be software as if was hardware the whole lot would be terrible. Really ruins the phone

well this morning 7am walked to beach and took series of photos. Cloudy but sun already higher in sky not on horizon rising. Well focusing worked well today but all the photos have to run through mediaimpression etc to brighten them up and change the hue. Once done they look great. Not perfect but great. Now on a par with the photos taken with my old old Kodak DC215 camera.
The photos this One takes are just not consistent and you cant rely on taking good photos all the time.

I got really pleased with the phone this morning. I was able to stream videos from my NAS (synology) without any issues with the Gallery app that is built in the phone.

I was also able to connect wirelessly to my TV (over wifi - a Sony W670 tv) and pretty much stream content from my phone to the tv...got so happy when the phone was able to do all this and still let me send out text messages etc. I was able to do full HD streaming to the tv from my phone (i mirrored the streamed content from my NAS to the tv via my phone).

That's a pretty cool feature to have built in. Unfortunately just tried it on a couple of movies etc I've got, and they play but no sound. Bugger
