Glengus: Having yesterday moved from the waiting to the using I agree there is some use in discussing the hold ups, however it has been getting to the stage of not being able to find any other topics!
To that end.....
My thoughts as a user of this device......
After playing with my pebble blue 16gb for a day or so now I have found:
- the apps that got downloaded automatically when I entered my google id seem to be a bit hit and miss, would have been nice to be able to choose which ones came through, as was the case with honeycomb, now superuser is there, works, but has no info/options on my un-rooted phone, generally support for apps seems to be low but I guess that will pick up as apps update to be ICS compatable. I have started to download widgets where previously i thought they were just gimics, a simple touch of a button on my homescreen now turns on wifi-hotspot, very useful.
- s voice has worked surprisingly well, once I told it I am a kiwi it started to really show up siri, I know its a bit of a gimic but i was expecting it to be a poor cousin to my obnoxious workmates iphones, when i say "navigate to downtown cinemas" about 2 seconds later i am being told to make a u hyphen turn out of the driveway at work, siri replies "im sorry but im too useless to find places outside the states", I'm actually believing that s voice could be a viable control method when driving! the lady in my phone has a potty mouth that almost rivals mine! when I say "tell XXXXXX hes a XXXXXX" she does just as i asked.
she does put the phone into a logic loop if she doesnt hear you correctly at times tho, i expect this will be resolved in updates but for now if I ask something she doesnt know how to do she sometimes gives me a neverending "hang on a minute" type message which has to be backed out of.
- the notification light is a dissapointment, all i see is red for charging, blue flashing for notifications, and the light seems to bleed into the bezel in an unattractive way. I had gotten used to my 2.3 custom rom where I could roll over in bed and see if i had any texts, emails, or facebook notifications by their separate colours, i'm hoping this is just a setting i am yet to find. any ideas??!!
- unlock by face, very gimicy, but gives me motivation/justification to go home early and sleep, those bags under my eyes look terrible!
- media management is great, I plugged in my micro SD card and it seems every app was loaded up with my pics and videos :). when I plug into my pc i have access to sd card or the phone itself (no system access on mine for now) all plug and play with windows 7.
- the soft buttons on the bottom of the phone have caused a little frustration, when using one handed i have had a few unwanted menu selections.
- there have been coments made about telecom messing with the browser, it still works fine and i've found the account managment page that comes up very handy, i can quickly see I have 2.8gb, 2300 txts, and 480 mins left this month, while i don't find it bloated.
-size - it actually fits into my hand and is usable one handed (notwithstanding the above comment about unwanted menu selection), I am terrified however that i am going to drop it, feels a little slipery! Fits into my pocket no probs.
Anyway, those a my 2 cents for those who are interested
p.s. still very glad I held out for the blue, a weeks extra wait for a slightly more pleasing toy was worth it, for those still waiting hold on in there!
I'm not a complete idiot, I still have some parts missing.
bignicko: See NL have a whole bunch of SIII accessories listed on the website now. All 3-4 day lead time with no pictures.
There are cases, batteries, car cradles, accessory kits, etc.
IntegerIsNumber:michaelfs:sqlpro:Ordered in NL St Lukes and still waiting.IntegerIsNumber:
How many more of us still haven't seen happy ending that is ordered from NL?
Regards
Me still waiting. ordered in hamilton store during QB weekend.
What version did you guys ordered? I just gave them all call and tell NL to hurry the hell up and follow up with BrightStar for all version then call me back once you've got some information regarding the shipment and ETA instead of a generic ETA for those preordered. Lol I'm frustrate.
n95: I wondered how long before the 'where's my S3' thread would start pissing people off, hence why I have stopped posting on the matter (and the fact I'm at work). It was just a rant on my part after yesterday going in to store to pick up my S3 case ordered off the NL website and happened to ask about my order while there (when I placed my order Queens birthday weekend by the way I was told 2 - 3 weeks so I wasn't hopeful) and was told by the sales person 3 months before next shipment!
I should have started a new post to whinge on?
bignicko: Samsung Mobile NZ Hi SH Maxx, Currently we have available, on all operator networks in New Zealand, both the Pebble Blue and Marble White 16GB Galaxy S III. Please keep an eye out for a future announcement on availability of 32GB models. ^JD 22 hours ago ·Samsung Mobile NZ Hey Nick, Samsung NZ has adequate stocks currently and hope you can get your hands on the Galaxy S III shortly! ^JD22 hours ago ·
Hopefully these posts in response to a couple of our questions on Samsung Mobile NZ's Facebook wall will quell some of the concerns with those like myself who were told 2-3 month delay by NL staff.

Except maybe SHMaxx in his quest for a 32GB Blue SIII ! :(
dakie: Right, so I decided to go and buy a new S3, my first ever Android device and so far I love it.
Just hoping someone could give me some advice.
The best way to close open apps (don't want facebook etc chewing data when I am not using it)
Best music app (something similar to itunes so I don't have to learn to much at once)
Any other tips for an Android newbie?
own3d: Pre order mine Tuesday last week at NL NPL (blue XT 16Gb) it arrived today and now have it :)
