yes it will fly on XT seeing theres a tower all of .5 of a km away ( infact less as i can see it 6 blocks from my back door ) and the next vodafone tower is 50kms away....

Approx where are you? I find it difficult to believe that the nearest Vodafone cell is 50km away

NZtechfreak: Good to see I'm not the only person who makes sales in electronics stores.

Sold an ASUS Transformer whilst in JB HiFi a while back to a person who was enquiring about Android tablets, sales person clearly had no clue what they were talking about and when he stepped away for a minute I set them straight.

I was at Harvey Normans one day looking at cameras and was beside a little old lady was looking at video cameras, a sale guy came over and explained them all to her and she finally picked one, he told her the price and she said o.k, i butted in and said 'can't you give my grandma a discount', he looked at me weirdly and said 'o.k' and knocked 20% off.  You should of seen this lady's face, such a bit smile, when the sales man left us alone, she said thanks and i told her that we had better walk out together. ha ha

I've brought one of these: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=483093181

I
t's light, the quality is nice, feels really good (sorta gripy) and it clips on nicely.

I've also ordered in one of those rock cases, they look good but hasn't arrived yet.

If anyone is after one of those Rock cases, I'd advise against getting it off Trademe - there are traders on Ebay selling at nearly half the price.

I'm probably showing my deep-south, Scottish roots here. . . . .

I am coming to the S3 from an HTC MAgic (Android 2.2.1) and I will need to decide which apps to keep and which I can drop because they are no longer needed.  Can someone please comment on the following:

I use Go SMS Pro for text messages because it lets me chose a specific ringtone and LED notification colour for my most commonly used contacts (i.e. I have Twitter txt's set up to make a tweet sound and a blue LED, my girlfriend a different sound and a pink LED, boss has another sound and a red LED, etc).  Can the stock text message app do this or will I still need Go SMS Pro?

I don't like to be bugged at night by email notifications so I use Bedside Buddy to automatically turn off data sync between 10pm and 8am.  Is there a way to do this with the built-in software?

I use 3G Watchdog to keep track of my 3G data usage.  Is this still needed or is there something built-in that lets me see that I've used up 70% of my monthly allowance and if I keep going at this rate I'll have used 120% by the end of my monthly billing cycle?

I use File Expert as a file manager.  Still needed or is there something built-in?

I have a couple of barcode / q-code scanners (i-nigma, QuickMark and ixMat Scanner).  Are they still needed or is there something built-in now?

I use Note Everything for making notes of things I need to remember.

I've got a Stop Watch and Timer app.

Thanks!

I'd suggest getting Lightflow . It's pretty awesome. Lets you control LED notification per application. You can set specific ring-tones from the actual contact menu I believe. (Ie select a contact and it'll give you the option).

On another note: How can I change where an app is installed to? Ie installing it to my external card instead of internal.

Also, anyone use Spotify? I can sync my tracks, but no idea how to store them on my external!

(This is my first android ever, so still learning a lot)
