Bhavicp: I'd suggest getting Lightflow . It's pretty awesome. Lets you control LED notification per application. You can set specific ring-tones from the actual contact menu I believe. (Ie select a contact and it'll give you the option).

So Lightflow will let me assign different LED colours for text messages from different contacts?

Thanks for confirming that.  The Features page on their website doesn't seem to mention that...

Does rooting your phone have any chance of "bricking" or does it void warranty? I'm wanting to try it on my s3 but have never used Andriod before.

Also, anyone have a reliable/recommended guide for doing it?

Androidnz has a really great guide and yes it voids your warranty and should be undertaken at your own risk.

There is always some risk with loading non standard software on your device.

I thought it might've been OK with the warranty since I read: On July 26, 2010, the U.S. Copyright office announced a new exemption making it officially legal[16] to root a device and run unauthorized third-party applications, as well as the ability to unlock any cell phone for use on multiple carriers.

simon14: Can anyone recommend a good cover for the s3?

I've brought one of these: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=483093181

I
t's light, the quality is nice, feels really good (sorta gripy) and it clips on nicely.

I've also ordered in one of those rock cases, they look good but hasn't arrived yet.

If anyone is after one of those Rock cases, I'd advise against getting it off Trademe - there are traders on Ebay selling at nearly half the price.

I'm probably showing my deep-south, Scottish roots here. . . . .

I had checked both eBay against the TM seller I was looking at (and eventually bought from) and there wasn't really much in it.  And given I wanted it pronto, it was better to buy more local. Ordered Sunday night, arrived Tuesday morning.  And I do have Scottish roots, hence looking around Wink I wonder with another week whether some of the sellers are now selling at a lesser price.  More demand and options/competition.

Argh at lightflow

Try it and watch your battery go down fast, when i had it installed it would keep an awake lock on.
When i had it installed i had 6 - 8 hours battery life, after removing it i have 1.5 - 2 days

Hmm really.. This could be why I'm getting similar battery life as well. But I put it down to using Wifi and playing around with it a lot last day or two.

Will do some testing and try i guess.
