Thanks John. So just need Spark, 2degrees and Optus confirmation and then wait in line. Mid May seems reasonable (possibly).

HTC M7 on Vodafone from Harvey Norman

Edit: Pro tip. Don't start the upgrade if you need to set the alarm on your phone to wake yourself up in the morning. LOTS of reboots! So it takes a while.

And don't freak out if it sits on the "HTC One beatsaudio" splash screen for ages. Eventually it will flip over to "Optimizing apps 1 of 308" (for me anyway. I had no idea I had 308 apps installed lol). Looking forward to see how much impact the ART makes!

And that's it. About 50 minutes from clicking download to new homescreen. Some notifications straight away on the lock screen to update Google Play services.

Got to hit the sack and get some z's, so I'll have a play with it tomorrow. Happy upgrading :D

Yes I woke up this morning to this update. Installing now. Slightly more complicated because I had to reinstall the stock recovery and uninstall Xposed (version not compatible with lollipop).
Taking a while, so thanks for the heads up about the long install time.

Guess I should have waited an extra day before asking about the update (Mid May pfffft.)

Still chugging away 45 minutes later. Optimizing 451 apps! I think I need to have a bit of a clean out.

After the fourth reboot it stopped optimizing apps.
Ran into a problem when I did a Nandroid backup though. The file manager (Windows or Android) couldn't see the backup file although it was definitely there. I had to go into the terminal emulator and reestablish the file link to the data/media/0 folder.
All good now though except it seems to be chewing through battery at a huge rate. Some re-tweaking obviously required.
Lollipop has broken some if the functionality of "Secure Settings" mainly to do with the enabling/disabling of the pin lock via Tasker. I have tried the new "Secure Device" option in the security settings (paired to smartwatch) to achieve the same thing but it still brings up the key guard which I don't want.
I like new look but miss Fast Boot now that it has gone from the power settings. Two and a half minutes to start up rather than 20 seconds.
Next step is to decide whether to take a chance and install an Alpha version of Xposed developed for lollipop.

Hey guys I just got the OTA update for my M7 today and encountered a problem =[

After the update downloaded and installed it had to optimise my apps, afterwards it rebooted and my phone is now stuck at the welcome screen.

I've managed to turn it off and back on and everytime I turn it back on I get spammed with 'sense ui crashed' 'x app crashed' messages and asking me to send information to htc or ignore and sent back to the welcome screen.

Anything I can do?
I'd preferably not like to factory reset as I don't have a backup =[
The phone is roughly 1.75 years old, never done anything I'm not meant to software wise.

From a distance I would say you have interrupted the upgrade process by doing a hard reset (holding the power button down). When I did my update the splash screen was there for what seemed like ages. I decided to walk away and leave it be as I have been burnt in the past. From what I have read there is a lot for the system to do rearranging file systems and changing things from dalvik to ART. XDA is possibly your best bet, but at best you may be in for a factory reset.

For those that have received the 2Degrees OTA, has it broken Semble support?
The Semble site still doesn't list anything other than 4.4.2 and 4.4.3

My M7 is on Spark (same rom though) and Semble is broken on 5.0.1 so I assume 2D is the same until the handset is recertified by each provider for the lollipop update.

Did you go ahead and update? If you did I hope you didn't want to go to bed straight away because it was the longest update I have experienced on the M7. A backup is always advisable particularly with this one I think because of the change to ART and a rearrangement of some file locations.

How are people finding the Lollipop update on battery life? My wife's one usually dies around 5pm each day. It was never very good but seems to drain even more rapidly now.

Hard to say but I would say it *feels* like the battery life is worse after the update. Seems to struggle to last a full day now, whereas it was usually still at 25-30% at bedtime previously. Does vary on usage tho so not a definitive analysis!

I haven't noticed it being worse. But then I don't push it too hard, and so I always have battery left at the end of the day when I charge.

The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is the 'recent apps' layout. I don't find the vertical layout carousel easy to see at a glance. I'm interleaving my web pages in this view as per the default setting, just to give it a try, but I think I'll end up putting my browser tabs back into the browser.

I've never really figured out if closing apps in this view saves power. But it does seem like they they remain open in the background until closed this way. For some reason I seem to end up forgetting to 'close' lots more apps due to this interface. Wonder if other people are experiencing the same, and it's this behavior drawing a tiny bit more power?

I'm really liking everything else though. And I was already pretty satisfied with KitKat.

I'm liking the themes (I think I'm using one called wet wood at the moment). The material design effects on everything are something I thought I would hate, but it's actually really nice. I like the lockscreen notifications, and also that OK Google can open through the lookscreen (previously it responded, but stayed behind the lockscreen till I opened it).

The extra camera option I can take or leave. I wish a software update could magically fix the pink tinge in low light, but that's a hardware thing I know.

I'm surprised not to hear more hoopla about the Lollipop upgrade in this thread to be honest. But I guess most people here are flagship phone buyers and power users, so have either moved on to another phone or already had all this functionality through mods anyway.

Hey, random question: Did everyone get a Clean Master app with this upgrade? It feels like one of those super sketchy malware programs that sites try to convince you to download. If it's from HTC officially though, I'll give it a crack.

My phone was bought online from the UK because I wanted it in black, and it was quite a few months after I got mine before they became available here...
Thanks to not depending on NZ carriers for my OTA updates, I got the Lollipop update on March 5th.

My initial impression was that it wasn't a terribly exciting update, but more recently I had to perform a factory reset on my device, and since then I have found that it restored some apps I had been missing (flashlight and calculator) and the general performance is excellent. I had rooted my phone and started playing with colours in Sense6 Toolbox before I realised that you can now create custom themes for the phone and get consistent colours without resorting to third party tools. That's a very welcome addition.
Battery life is about the same as I got on KitKat: all over the place. Yesterday I was on 65% at 7pm, today I am on 50% at 5pm. I guess my usage levels are quite varied.

I preferred the KitKat quick toggles in the notification shade, having to do a second gesture to reach them is surprisingly annoying, and I REALLY don't like the thing where it leaves all your apps in the app switcher, even through a reboot. It just means the device rarely gives the impression of being 'fresh' for want of a better way of describing that.
I preferred the old non-italic lock screen clock, and I miss the proper Pandora art propagation to my Moto360 - though that's Pandora's fault for not updating to do Lollipop notifications properly.

I use an alternate launcher and pretty much the only app I ever see that shows the SenseUI is the dialler (and that's rare for me) so the update really made very little difference to me on a day to day basis. I don't know what I really expected but the difference vs the previous OS is pretty minimal for my usage patterns.

Did the update the next day at work. Took just over an hour I'd guess, but I left it going on my desk so not entirely sure.

I'm enjoying the improvements to navigation, but I've found the HTC messaging app has pretty much given up the ghost. I'm going to move to an alternative... It wasn't ever great, but I've never been a fan of third party messaging apps. Now HTC have given me no choice.

Battery life hasn't really changed at all. I get the feeling that what some people think is more battery life is actually just a background calibration occurring with the update which gives them a more accurate assessment - so fewer seemingly sudden drops. My battery is pants. If I don't charge in the afternoon at work, it doesn't last till bedtime - let alone a night out with friends. I don't run a lot of apps either. Just regular browsing on the train and at lunch.

I'd go for a new phone this year, but the M9 hasn't wowed me and samsung/LG lack things that are important to me such as good front facing speakers and sense.
