While my usage recently has been relatively light, the last few days (5am to 1030pm), I have ended the day with well north of 50% battery remaining. The first couple of days the battery drain seemed horrible and some of the greenify Xposed features are no longer available with lollipop. But it seems to have settled down.
Smart lock is still frustrating me because I also use a smart cover app to turn the screen on and off instead of the power button and it always brings up the lock screen regardless of the proximity of my smartwatch. If I use the power button it works as advertised.

seaphorm: I'd go for a new phone this year, but the M9 hasn't wowed me and samsung/LG lack things that are important to me such as good front facing speakers and sense.

I'm running Sense on my Oneplus One...it's easy to find the packages online and install and use it on a non-HTC phone. So that's one less thing you need to worry about if you move to a different device

Have a Spark M7, overseas atm but got a notification saying update to Lollipop was available. Downloaded and installed (did a hard restart when it hung on the white screen before reading this thread).. it's all done and dusted now and..... phone won't charge. Stuck on 24%, battery symbol up top suggests its charging, Power page under settings suggests its charging.. but it isn't.

Fantastic :)

Is this with the phone turned off or on? I have found a similar thing when I try to charge mine with it powered down. I have to power it up again by doing a hard restart (holding power button down for about 15 sec). Then charging it with the phone powered up. I wondered initially if I had a faulty battery, but with others experiencing it as well I am beginning to think it's an OS problem.

I have just applied the HTC battery reset procedure as detailed here:

Will report back on whether it solves the problem or not. The other thing I'm getting is "Android is upgrading" message when I do a restsart so I might reinstall the stock recovery and reboot a couple of times in case I installed the custom recovery too soon after the upgrade and it hadn't quite finished. Note to self; reboot multiple times after an upgrade.

Both. I went into the Power page and it was a flatline at 24%! The battery eventually appeared to die all of a sudden, a little while later I had a look and it was up at about 85%. Seems to be fine now..

Whatevs....

The reset I linked did nothing to affect the problem. I am leaning towards this being a bug in the OS and the way it reads the battery state. In my case with the phone off, the phone displays the charging symbol when the HTC charger is plugged in, but it never progresses to showing the battery level filling up like it used to. I then have to do a hard restart because I'm sure the phone thinks it's at zero. When I shut down and start up without connecting to the charger it starts quite normally.

I reinstalled the stock recovery and then did a couple of reboots. But the phone still tells me it is upgrading android every time I restart it. Is anybody else getting this?
I am going to have to do a factory reset at some stage I think and start with a clean slate. I wish HTC Sync was as effective as iTunes in restoring everything. There is Titanium Backup, but I have had mixed results with it in the past and it seems a bit hobbled since both KitKat and Lollipop came out.

Nope. When I restart it just goes through two splash screens then restarts. I've Been 100% stock this whole time though. Sound like factory reset and upgrades might be your only option.

Well I upgraded my HTC M7 to 5.0, got to say I don't like. I don't like how you have to drag your finger down the screen twice to get to the quick settings like Wifi, Bluetooth etc

Just had my first strange battery related experience since Lollipop upgrade.

Battery graph shows a sheer cliff from 6:30am to 2pm, where the battery drained itself flat.

Literally the only time I took my phone out today was once when I realised it felt a bit warm, and I swept away any open apps I had in the recent apps view, then put it back in my pocket. Other than those 8 seconds, it's been screen off all day. The heat was definitely a clue I should have paid attention to though.

The battery history doesn't give away that much, but from what I can glean it appears that it was either something related to Google Services (which covers a huge arrange of things) or wifi related (I don't connect to the wifi at work, but maybe it was searching).

The spoooooky thing, is that my workmates iPhone died in exactly the same way today (75% battery charge to nothing within an hour). Maybe the GCSB is tapping our phones and trying steal our wifis!!

Anyway, I had a rampage through all my apps and deleted a ton. Will be interesting to see if it happens again tomorrow. If so, I might have to find a good battery usage analysis app for Android.

Thought I'd chuck that our there as another data point among all of the recent battery weirdness.

I just got the notification of the update late yesterday afternoon. Stupidly, I got all excited and started it when I only had about 30 minutes before it was time to leave work and go home. Fortunately I got the update downloaded in that time and just had to sit through "Otimising nnn of 375 apps" for about 20 minutes while I drove home. And I have nowhere near 375 apps on my phone so I'm guessing every Android/HTC service is classified as an app for the purpose of this message...

To be fair, I haven't noticed a huge amount of difference yet although, as someone who is involved in human/computer interation and useability, it seems strange to me that a couple of the things I have noticed are potentially degrading the user experience: the double-swipe to display the settings menu and the stacked recent apps menus, both of which require additional effort for the user to access information than in the previous version. One thing I discovered though is that you can display the settings menu with a single swipe from the lock screen - I don't remember being able to do that without first unlocking the phone before?

And I haven't had any weird battery/charging issues yet, but I'll be keeping an eye on it.
