Oh and yes Ive tried a factory reset, but it seems Ive gone to far down the rabbit hole
So for those of us just about to head down the rabbit hole, I'm assuming the thing to do is once you have a custom recovery installed the first thing to do is make a recovery image of the rooted stock rom and save a copy to your PC? I have done this with previous devices but they have always had removable SD cards. Or would that not have helped in your current circumstance?
And finally to round off the rabbit hole analogy, remember Alice did eventually get home :)
